what happened in 2011?

just a wild guess but since he's quoting his ranking and not the total number of players perhaps not many players took goons to a town?  I cant even remember the last time I took a goon to town.  and since the ranking is in december when a lot of players are busy with xmas season...

semp

edit: just to give some reference  my rank bomber/capture category was 3234  while in attack it was 2624  both without actually capturing any bases.  while gv's capture was 3297.

This is dumb.  Here's the story, like it or not:

1.  Defending a horded base is fun if you have a chance to repel the horde.  When you don't have a chance to repel the horde, people don't want to give the Nancy's the satisfaction of the kill;
2.  A good fight = a somewhat equal number fight where each individual fight, or the equal furball comes to its natural conclusion uninterrupted
3.  People hate being shot down without much of a fight so they quit upping
4.  Numbers heavy sides tend to roll this way (yes I have flown with them as had anyone that has played this game)
5.  The FIGHTERS in this game look for red dar bars that are twice the size of the green dar bar.
6.  People forget.  If you want a fight, up a plane by yourself or with a buddy and go into a dar circle and ANNOUNCE IT.  You'll get all the action you want.  If you don't believe that, here's a list of people to seek out for help, proof and instruction:  Dodger, SERaider, LilMak, INK, bunnies, me, actually any Muppet, any Blue Knight.

If you CHOOSE not to do #6, then you don't get to claim there are no fights.  There are plenty of fights.  Go start one.

Now, everyone shut up and go pick a fight! lol

The players limit themselves by performing the same stale mission profiles in the face of changing game dynamics.

If you don't adapt to said changes, your gaming experience will become boring.

Yes -- all that talk is from folks who don't fly Euro times or after about 3 am Eastern US time.

Yes -- all that talk is from folks who don't fly Euro times or after about 3 am Eastern US time.

True but the issues are mutually exclusive:

1.  Not enough people playing on Euro time to actually START a fight
2.  US time zones provide easy fight starting

Solve the subscription issue and you shall have your fights if you follow #6

Fly during prime time, and you don't need #6 -- or anything else as there are plenty of people and plenty of good fights.

I was addressing the prime time players that say there are no fights.

There are always fights.

I remember fondly a statement made to me for why someone wouldn't help me locked in a narrow canyon in a spti8 against 2 Ki43. It sums up the nature of all complaints about the lack of fights and the vast array of reasons not to become involved with the opportunities at hand.

"The terrain and strategic limitations did not suit the fight I wanted to engage in with my ride."

I died and he landed 6 kills. Guess he knew something about covering his own kester.

Most vets are not looking for a fight because they know themselves, and how to win their way, along with the limitations to their way very, very well. It's about 5% of vets who don't care who they are avoiding, while hunting the newbies who don't have a clue at any given time.

It's human nature in a game with no rules, and you don't face a courts martial for leaving your countrymen to die.

Changeup, add in AMAX for late nights after you goto bed. He won't even ask for help when it's less than six on one.

Speaking as someone who considers himself an average dogfighter (but still probably better at it then about 50% of the active pilots) I have to agree with Dolby on this one.  My family drama and work related travel aside, I've not felt all that compelled to login because it's gotten a bit stale in the MA of late.   I'm hopeful it will pick up soon.

On the other hand, the in-game egos were also a contributing factor to my taking a break  I was a bit tired of the whines from those who want every fight in a local furball to be some kind of ritualistic duel i.e. Achilles and Hector at the Gates of Troy.  That is one game negative, however, I can personally fix (e.g. Not monitoring ch200 for the time being, auto squelch whining PMs, etc etc etc).

Fulcrum, one thing you seem to be forgetting. C200 whines, and nasty PM's are evidence you are doing it right. No one whines at people they shot down.

This is an ego centric game. If you decide to come back, detune 200 if it gets to you. I personally enjoy it most of the time. It's a great laugh if you can overlook the babies.

How can some of you say you cant find a fight?  That just boggles my mind...I'm pretty sure someone already said it but its the fact that some of you aren't finding a way to fight your way (probably picking a furball)  Anytime I'm on I never find a lack of fights...I find good 1 vs 1 fights all the time...and I get horded quite a bit too.  I find it very fun fighting the horde and defending bases from air or ground attack...matter of fact I see people on 200 or country saying constantly they are getting good fights...so what am I missing here?  Are the few of you who can't find a fight not trying??? or do you have nothing better to do while your not playing the game....If its a 1 vs 1 fight you want hit me up...I see all of you every time I'm on at some point...So if that's what you want I'm game  :salute But this "I can't find a good fight" business has got to go  :bhead

sorry but it is fact.....many players will only engage when they have no chance of losing....

when 5 cons hit the deck and run to ack because a lone Ki84 appears.....something is wrong with the player base.

when 15 guys think that it is cool to attack 1 lone con...or would rather sit over a field and vulch...something is wrong with the player base......

when players would rather sit behind an enemy hanger and shoot the tanks as they spawn....something is wrong with the player base.....

when players would rather attack a field with 40-50 guys...NOE so they cant be seen......or call cheat when someone happens to find them....something is wrong with the players base.....

but in reality it is not the "player base" so much it is the way this country is and how people are in general now a days....

now a days you go to a "game" you get a trophy just for showing up....or you get rewards just for taking off......

the game play has been steadily going down hill.... I have been here since tour 52....if some say it hasn't..... then they need to get out of the green hord and see for themselves.(because yes there have always been hoards)
