I thought it might be a slow week with the holidays and I wasn't wrong as this is the slowest start to sign-ups I've seen. We're currently at 24 players. We need 8 more to fill the small bracket with everyone guaranteed a spot in the tornament. We need 18 more to open the larger bracket. I'll decide sometime late this week if we push the start back one week or not to try to get more people signed.
A little promotional help would be appreciated. Just mention the tournament to one or two other players (or tell your squad), especially those who don't regularily visit the BBs.
If you're on the fence yourself or don't think you're good enough or whatever the case is you need to give it a try. I guarantee your adrenalin will be pumping and even if you lose in the first round (half the players will) you'll get to try again in the lower brackets. Also, if you're worried that you'll be looked down upon if you lose quickly egos are largely set aside here as the tournament should epitomize sportsmanship. Ask for help. There's a lot of good sticks here willing to lend you a hand before or after your duels.
Finally, the tournament is set up to randomize match-ups and initial initial plane assignments. As the great Forest Gump noted: "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get". After that it's designed to give the underdog every chance to come back.
