Harder Gguns with vulnerable gunner added.
« on: December 23, 2013, 06:34:10 PM »
To improve durability of ground guns I suggest that the splash damage model whilst fatal to the gunner is not so fatal to the gun itsself requiring a direct hit from general mg and cannon rounds and a higher threshold for heVy ordinance splash damage.

The gunner however is still vulnerable such that player manned or not the gun is disabled but not destroyed for a few seconds during which either our AI Rambo or player takes over the position to continue fire.

In this way even with the gun positions we have, simple one pass HE straffing may not totally incapacitate a ground gun even if it does silence it for a short while. The net result is to make de acking take a little longer and require heavier ordinance to ensure a ground gun is fully suppressed.

You would have to then place a delay of 5, 10, 15 minutes for the player just killed in a gun, before he can choose the same gun again.

Agreed.  Guns are just too easy to take out.

guns are easy to take out because gunners don't risk anything.

I don't think ground guns need a buff.

Good, I'm sick and tired of being carpet bombed at vehicle bases by multiple boxes of buffs. I want to duke it out with a single fighter who has to place some skin in the game to get my gun position....... :D

I also want the AH1 style towns so we can go back to 2 guys being able to capture fields. And, and, I want the wirbel's max range increased to it's real range of around 4000m along with the osti's range too. Push the bombers up higher and kill more of them farther out before they can get the bombs out on low level runs.

Yeah fields are just too dang'd tough to take today. Along with needing to bring along everyone in your country just to get the ack down, and keep the uppers on the ground. Yeah it's all the acks fault...........

now i like using the manned gun..so don't get me wrong when i say this--and i agree with the fact that a .50 cal should kill the gunner but not the gun..however a rocket hit or blast ring from a rocket should take out a 88 or 20mm gun..if a 2.5in or 2.75in rocket can kill a tank--it dang sure ought to be able to kill ground guns...which is what usally kills my gun. :joystick:

I chuted out to take out the last left at the port 17lb gun and taunted it before downing it with a pistol.

I agree the gun itself should be harder but please leave the fleshy beings manning it at normal human levels of durability.
