my brother's gone thru 2 or 3 x52's (the plastic one tho, not the pro)

I've gone thru about 15 Logitech extreme3dpro's

(in about 8 years)

I personally don't like the x52, it's too "floppy" for me..

Sidewinder Precision pro, Finally replaced it this year.  I bought it in 1998.  Pretty good investment I would say.  It still works, but its no backup to a logitech wingman extreme that I am not very thrilled with. I might just go back to the sidewinder.
The logitech controls are not balanced very well, requiring far to little effort in the "twist" control for the rudder.  The ergonomics are terrible causing me to have to hunt for buttons when I've been using it long enough that I shouldnt have to. The trigger location essentially forces you to hover your finger over it, which can (and has) cause me to let off a burst of gunfire unintentionally.

Geez...I just thought about it and I've owned WAY too many joysticks.

- I owned CH sticks back in the gameport days....fantastic quality.  I also owned one of the old Suncom F15 sticks which I liked even better but it didnt have the quality of the CH stick (it was still very good...so much so I'm considering modding one for USB for my son).
- I had (and still own) a Microsoft Precision Pro and it still works no spiking...MS actually made good hardware for a long time.  It was my first USB stick.
- I tried Saitek.  Had the X45.  Had the X52.  Had the X52 pro.  All crap.  All died within a year.
- Few years back I bought the Logitech G940.  Loved force feedback (it was my first FFB stick) but the reversal bug drove me mad.  Finally got a modded Thrustmaster Cougar for cheap and loved it so much I bought the Warthog a year later.  And now I own the VKB Black Manba and interchange it with the Warthog.  I'm now officially a "all metal" joystick snob.   :aok

If my wife knew how much money I've blown on flight sims over the years I think she'd shoot me.   :D
Going by "Hoplite" now. :)

I have the X52 and am very happy with it. I've only had it for about 15 months now but it is great. Now  just need to get a set of pedals. :pray

Earl, you might want to look at the new Saitek X55, dual throttles and other new features.

ive used the the X-52 with saitek rudders. everyone said i should use CH sticks so i went to them, but i LOVED the X-52. once i memorized the buttons it was awesome. i still have it and use it as a backup for my ch setup. i never had a bad experience with it, and love it. i thought the CH's had less buttons, and was a more boring stick. the timer in the throttle was nice in the saitek, as i used it to know when guns would come back up after we killed them. the CH is a much smoother stick, but i stilled killed people with my saitek. i found it an all around more enjoyable stick.  just my 2 cents.

I must of lucked out and got a good one.  I am still using the same Saitek X-45 that I got when I started AH back 2004.  Tried a CH stick for awhile, but it had some kind of problems (can't remember what exactly....) went back to the X-45 and its still going strong.  Granted I don't do 100+ hours a month anymore, but in the early years I did and its still working.  Either I got a good one, or I am just very light on the controls . . .?
