The game uses a balanced approach to the hardware and uses the GPU when it makes sense. This allows the game to run on low end motherboard video chips, which is the lion share of the market place.
We have been waiting for a long time for Shader Version 3.0 to be the bulk of what is out there. That is the first version which really allows a lot of flexibility in many areas.
Now, as to multi-core. It makes no sense to use more than two cores, directly, at the moment. There would be no benefit in doing so. Like the shader version, waiting for quad cores to be the overwhelming standard is only prudent. Once we are there, and it makes sense, then it will be done.
All this is for now. What is coming may change it all, or it may not, depends on what works best for the majority of systems in the marketplace.
Chalenge, I really do not have any hands on time with that NVidia card. I do not know how that high of a resolution will impact it.
