Firefox probelms...is it just me?

Lately I've been noticing Firefox running rather slowly and freezing up on me quite a bit. I never used to have problems with FF until semi recently (last couple months or so.) I was beginning to think it may just be my computer freezing but I could open Google chrome and get to where I was trying to go in no time at all. It even seems like YouTube videos freeze more and take forever to load on FF. The same video plays flawlessly on Chrome. Is FF going down hill or is there a setting I may have wrong somewhere? Is anyone else experiencing anything similar with FF? FF has been my go to browser for years but I'm getting tired of all the freezes and crashes.

Yes firefox is getting bloated unfortunately. You can fix some of it by running adblock or noscript which will stop all the flash crap from running. Youtube videos have problems due to flash, it seems all those security updates have affected performance. Chrome uses their own built in and tweaked implementation of flash.

If you like Firefox, there's a couple things you might want to try. The first one is obvious: Reset. How? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems#w_how-do-i-reset-firefox-to-its-default-state
Next check that all of your add-ons and extensions are up-to-date. Remove those you don't really need. Toolbars and search engines with funny names can cause issues even when not in use.
Third: Get PaleMoon. It's a version of Firefox with all the familiarity but less bloat. http://www.palemoon.org/

Have to second the Pale Moon recommendation, swicthed to it several months ago and never looked back. Another setting in FireFox I played with before the switch which seemed to help is to set a limit on the amount of browser cache.

silver, i remember somebody else reporting this a few months ago and he found out his browser had been hijacked.  there's no reason why firefox should freeze all of a sudden.  I understand all the problems with youtube as I also had them.  specially with my adblock and noscrip.

I think before you switch to palemoon you should make sure that your browser isnt hijacked.  it could possible transfer it to palemoon.

Today was the first time my Firefox messed up,, wouldn't let me on you tube or Facebook ,, on two different computers ,,, my iPad even acted up a bit tho and it's not got Firefox on it,,,, I'll try the reset later. When I get back on them

I just reset my firefox. I will see if that fixes the problems. If not I guess I'll give Palemoon a try. Thanks guys

I think Firefox is messed up,, mine updated on the 27th,, now it doesn't recognize some sites as safe, then says my provider needs info?,,   Pale moon rides on Firefox ,,,   Used to be one called nightly ,, I'll have to look it up.

Firefox works normally at least for me but I'm on OSX.

yes. It looks like an update around the same time as problems started ,, no biggie,, I don't need to surf with it,,, but both my win 7 computers are doing the exact same thing,   I pad works fine tho!    It'll all work out I bet!

BTW.  It wasn't Firefox on my end,,, my provider said I went over this month!   First time in 8 years,, no charge tho,they're gonna let it slide this time,,,,,,, and two more times,,,, then they'll charge me!

i installed it and now certain word are double underlined and when you mouse over them they show up and advertisement i got the adblock plus thing but it still does it anyone else have this problem my AVG scan every other day so i dont think i have a virus
