Step one: Get to about 15k.
Step two: Find a target lower than you.
Step three: Dive onto target.
Step four: Shoot target.
Step five: ??????
Step six: Profit.

That's basically all there is too it. The Typhoon cant turn, it cant really roll, but it goes fast and can climb fairly well. BnZ my friend, BnZ.

:huh I think that is the first time I saw someone say a Typhoon climbs well... :lol  Unless you mean it climbs like an ant pushing a brick up a hill? :headscratch:  But, you do have the BnZ part correct.  And you also left out this; With it's hispano's, you can take shots at greater distances.  They are fairly accurate, just exercise ammo conservation.  You'll blow threw it's limited ammunition supply real damn quick with spray and pray. :aok

Now the Tempest is a different beast.  But I cannot give any advice on how to fly it, as I have maybe flown it 2 times the whole time I've been in AH.  Nothing wrong with the machine, it's just I'd be throwing perks away. :bhead  I'd rather be tossing them away by flying worse in a 262. :)

I beg to differ, I once took off a capped field in a typhoon and shot down 7 and managed to land. Learn to fly it and use rudders, it rolls alright and turns alright, just not anything special - use its low alt top speed to an advantage.

Rule # 1 with the Typhoon: Think RIGHT!  Anything to the left (roll or turn) is greatly handicapped by the engine torque.  Use that to your advantage, most planes roll and turn better to the left so in a defensive situation **give** the left roll first then if your speed and climb cant get you out of trouble then you can use the roll to the right to your advantage.  Timing is very crucial.

Rule #2: You're not a knife fighter, in fact you're in one of the worst knife fighters in the game.  If you don't capitalize on the Typhoon's speed, climb, and/or firepower then you're in for a rough go.

Rule #3: Think offensively.  If it a plane to press the attack, be it moving dirt or air to air.  If you tip-toe in a Typhoon you're missing the point of being in a Tiffy'.  Also, more so in the Tiffy than many other planes it is best to have a wingman to let you go about your business.

SA is the main defense in the Typh - you need to avoid difficult situations that you may wiggle your way out of in another plane. The second is speed. In that sense it is like a 190, you have no business being slow and at speed the Typh has one of the best elevator authority.

Roll is abysmal and the #1 reason I do not fly it. Both the rate and the right instead of left torque is driving me nuts. It does have a decent rudder that can help you bring it around quicker. Use it if you need to! The other "trick" is a snap roll that the Typh can do quite well - put the stick full in the 4'oc/8'oc position and add right/left rudder correspondingly. The plane will stall one wing and roll fast. Stop it by moving the stick to the opposite position (10'oc/2'oc) for a brief moment and center the rudder. It is very control-able unlike in some other planes.

I consider Typhs in the MA as a serious threat. They close range fast, the guns are deadly even in the hands of a noob, and since it is a rare bird, it is usually flown (as a pure fighter, not kamikaze) by above-average players.

Should have clarified, it climbs well after a dive and at lower altitudes.

Either way it's probably the 4th best BnZ plane to have in game.

I don't.  I take a Tempest instead.

Yeah.  I haven't flown one as a fighter in a good while though.  I generally use them in ground attack runs, which they are decently suited with it's ords and guns. :aok

Last time I flew one was a while back but I stopped because of the limited ammo, and my bad aim. 4 Hispanos sure do make a good de-acking and ord-busting tool though.

When deacking or in tracking shots you can use only two guns and save a lot of ammo. In snap shots always fire all 4.

Aren't you suppose to drain one tank or the other first?

Um.  No.  Makes no difference in the Typhoon.  The torque is to powufuw.  Truly, only the F4U's with the wing tanks need any manual intervention (burn left tank first, then let go default.  That is historically accurate, too).  The Spitfires burned the top tank while ascending but there are conflicting accounts as to why.  Otherwise... don't drink the kool-aid, just let the aircraft do it for you.
