Bringing back an old topic.........FS AutoStart
« on: December 30, 2013, 11:00:48 AM »

Anyone have much experience with this, still use it, etc?
I tried last night to get my system going with AH, just offline flights to shake the rust off after several years away, but it kept locking up.  I am going to check my video card drivers here in a bit, see if that was part of the problem, but I remember several years ago several players mentioning FSAutoStart and how it helps your machine run smoother by shutting down unneeded processes while you are in game.
I never got around to installing and trying it myself, real life stuff took me away from the game before I was able to give it a shot.  Now I want to try and get back into the game and use my current 7 year old system until I can get a new built just for AH use.
Thanks!!!!!!

I have been using it for years until lately, when it refused to work. And yes, the FS-autostart, not the Alacrity-PC and yes again, on XP. I don't know what went wrong with it. One day it works, thereafter not any more. Fortunately there's actually only a couple of processes I want to shut down so I now use the Task Manager for that, leaving 25 running including AcesHigh. Check Blackviper's site for information about unnecessary processes and how to get rid of them. For temporarily shutting down several processes with one double click, you can create a batch file using "net stop <process>" command for each.
