HIding CV's is OK......
« on: December 31, 2013, 10:22:52 PM »
.......if it inspires the kinds of missions I saw today.

Rather than whine about hidden CV's in the forums, one country simply went and took them back with well planned and executed mission.

I had fun finding some other cv that were hidden in various parts of the map, too.

Yeah, you see the problem is we are only in control of our own actions, and anything but smash and grab missions, or big buff raids to the strats are extremely unpopular.

That means there's ZERO reliability of being able to set up such a mission you seem to envision.

Anything that makes you rely on strangers is a horrible idea, because they are inherently unreliable.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

Apparently, they achieved 200% reliability by sending two hidden cv back to their ports.

I agree you can only count upon yourself but I am able to find cv about 90% of the time that I look for them.

Had I decided to sink it, it would have been returned to play.

Pansies change sides to find the CV because they lack the skill or ability to anticipate the enemy enough to find them.

It's never taken me longer than 1 hour to find a cv no matter where it is.

Why should I waste an hour of my time because someone hid a CV in the back of the map?

Because it's tactical? Nope it's not...

Gives a side an advantage? No not really...

Take away from further fights? Sure does...

Hiding CVs doesn't effect the game as much as the idiots who hide them think...just removes a fight.

The P-51 can cruise at over 400mph at 12k on military power.  So the most efficient way to find a CV is to launch a P-51 with 100% internal fuel, and fly into the sectors that you think may harbor an enemy cv.  This way you cover lots of water, can outrun nearly all enemy fighters, and have a tremendous range.  Unfortunately, it still requires flying momentarily inverted or banking to see the water directly to your 12:00.

no need to look over your 12.  the first ping that kills you tells you there's a cv there.

I enjoy looking for them almost as much as anticipating whether the dar I saw upping from enemy rear field is B29s so I can run them down in a 110.

I'm now going to run them down with a I16 or C202 since 110 has proven pretty easy.

The reward for finding a CV that was hidden by simply looking is far more satisfying than having someone cheat to find it.  (yes, I consider spying to be cheating).

Proper CV usage involves parking them a couple miles offshore from an enemy base and running up the black flag to signal no quarter asked and no quarter given. Anything else is a waste.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."
