idea, looking for comments--weekly tank battles

would anyone be interested in a weekly or bi weekly thing where the object was to capture a base within 1 or 2 hours. Gv's and spotter planes only, no aircraft or fighter aircraft limited to only 100 lb'ers, BB's and cannon. no anti-tank aircraft IE IL-2, stuka, Hurricane, etc. no bombers at all!

one idea would be 3 bases, 1 neutral. both sides try to capture neutral base. first one to capture neutral base wins

2nd idea 2 bases adjacent to each other?

first one to capture other base wins.

FSO style with side assignments.

May or may not have multiple spawns into 1 base for both sides.

just throwing it out there, nothing in the works, more out of curiosity.

Sounds like a great idea !! Although it might be an idea also to keep the base campers at bay as well. The last event I did see a few campers that wouldnt let a tank out of the base before they were in the tower again. Doesnt get much fun when that happens. You are on the right track though! Would love to see a weekly battle or even a tank king of the hill or something like that .. I think it would be a great addition to a great game!!

nikonguy, we're talking no bombers at all. this is going to be about tank fights. we could could put in a fighter or 2 for base capture scenarios. we're looking at alot of different things, but trying to see if there's general interest in this. we might even build some new terrains specifically for these types of tank fights in the AVA.

Not that many people visit the boards. This might be something to put into a "message of the day" type thing. Of course you'd have to contact HTC about that, but more ways to play and have fun can't hurt. Also with you guys guys doing most of the work I don't see where HTC would have a problem of helping promote it.

Would be fun.  Have tried to do things like this in a "main" arena in other large sims...similar to AH...and unfortunately there are those who think that disrupting the set up situation with bombers or etc. is somehow within their rights as paying members and etc. etc. etc.  It probably won't work in the main arena.  But, it would be fun.
