Again : perimeter warning for GV's
« on: January 04, 2014, 11:52:19 AM »
Taking off from own airbase four+ Wirbels was parked some hundreds of yards from the runway two on each side, they basically blew up anything coming out of there, our GV hangar and Radar was dead.

Ok : this could happen, BUT HOW CAN GV SIT IN MY HANGAR I TAKE OFF FROM AND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT ?????

My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

If the base is flashing there is enemy in proximity.  That means they can be on the field or as far away as the maximum detection range allowed in the game.  Plan and up accordingly.  Perhaps take a peek around the field from the tower.

Of course you can... the only hangar an enemy GV can effectively hide in from watchers in tower is the VH.

Ground war people in HQ  are total idiots. You get the same kind of alert when one jeep appears at the spawn as you get when 20 tanks and whirbls are 20 meters from the end of the runway.

We need a gv darbar.

I dunno, I think Tank Dar would kind of dull things down a bit. But then I always thought it was weird to have Bar Dar out in the middle of the ocean too. As for the sneaky wirbles, most of the time they are going to die and they put in a nice chunk of time getting in so I say they shouldn't be penalized for a little suicidal initiative.

When you are in the tower, push F5 and then F8 keys, and you can check around by numpad keys. And you can use zoom too.

Oh so thats why fields flash, you know perhaps there is an enemy within 6k of the base which makes it flash!! oh this makes sense now!!

/if you try taking off and get blown up by a vehicle on the runway, up with a p51 from the nearest field not flashing and blow up said GV. Problem solved, next.

If anything, I'd wish the bases would flash when being shelled by ANYTHING.

the problem is that you do not know why it is flashing - if there is one plane within range it will flash, but then you cannot tell if it is just one plane or one plane and 50 GVs. You know roughly how mant planes are in the sector, but you have zero information about the number of GVs. This is why we need the GV darbar - not to locate them, but to tell the difference between 0 and 50 GVs, especially if there already is a plane in the sector and the base flash tell you nothing about the GVs.

It's a game...... an element of deduction is required in some circumstances. I am not sure a gv dar bar is appropriate.

IMO the audible base under attack could be doubled to alternately sound off base under air attack or base under ground attack or which ever one is applicable at the time.

In most cases it can be worked out anyway......if it's flashing and there is no dar bar then there are ground hugging enemy about..... Which usually means GV,s.
