New Problem
« on: January 08, 2014, 06:09:28 AM »
:airplane: We were running some missions in the MLW arena, when a situation came up, which caused me to start thinking about something. What happened was this: A knight, his name is of no matter, was hanging in a parachute, just off one of our bases, he saw 2 goons taking off with troops for a base capture and immediately started notifying his country mates, he just happened to do it on chann 200 instead of his country channel. Well, I would have done the same thing, so I don't have a problem with him doing that, but I would have been more careful about which radio channel to put it on.
Now here is the new problem that we are going to have to watch for: A Bish or Knit parachutes to a key forward base, on a mountain top or just close by the airfield and keeps his country advised on what is lifting and what direction are they headed. OK, nothing wrong with that, but, are we now going to have to parachute 2 or 3 guys and hunt this guy down on the ground and kill him with our .45's? Interesting question!
Does this man on ground show ICON? If so, can he be killed with aircraft bullets or cannon or bombs?
This makes me think of several new situations which attackers can use someone like this to see what is going on at target base.
I don't see anything wrong with this, just gives us a new element to the game if used correctly!
Maybe Hi Tech can give us some hand grenades including our .45's, the we could insert 4 "seals" just off a base, use grenades to kill flak in town and guard map room until capture.
What do you guys think?
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

You will probably get no icon on the chute once he is on the ground. Any explosion anywhere close to him will kill him like a regular troop. MG's will require a direct hit.

spying on the base with pilot is nothing new , i my self did it couple times since i started playing this game (thats not more than a dozen time in 3 years).

And I witness lots of other people doing it... I don`t see any thing wrong with it.

     Spies!    :noid

Someone had to say it.  :devil

Last night some were pondering if it was a side switcher that gave away their mission. Could have been a Chute but on a small map it's mot too hard to figure out where the missions are.
I always wanted to fight an impossible battle against incredible odds.

I have seen a chute icon on the ground a few times.  Normally it represents as a flashing icon, not a steady one, as you fly over.  It seems you have to be really close to see it too...

One time there was a chute sitting on a maproom waiting for troops to be dropped so he could shoot them preventing a base capture.  I bailed over the town and ran to the maproom and kilt him with my .45...  It was one of my most satisfying kills (top 10).

i've bailed and walked into the maproom to do this before.

I did the maproom thing once in my time in this game because I happened to ditch on the outskirts of town.  I figured 'Why not?' so exited the plane and ran to the maproom.

The volume of fire that building took before they got me and got troops in was enormous.  From what I saw there, it's not a very viable defense strategy.  Everybody hits the maproom before troops run.

as mentioned, it's nothing new.

earl be glad you weren't around when a bailed pilot would make a base flash.

people would bail and go afk and leave a base flashing for hours.

:airplane: As I stated earlier, I don't have a problem with what the guy was doing, because I would have done the same! I am just raising the Spector of having to hit the silk now to hunt down a enemy pilot walking around on the ground!  That, in my view, adds a new dimension to the game, if people care to explore it.
Another question, would the player on the ground flash the base, and if not, does this mean a player can walk all the way on to the base? If so, how about using .45 to shoot pilots in aircraft as they spawn out for takeoff! Can you kill a pilot sitting in his aircraft sitting on the ground? (Lots of mission thoughts running through my head).

the player on the ground can be killed by anything, you don't need to go hunt him down on foot.. he doesn't make the base flash anymore (used to, years ago)

yes he could walk right onto a base. he will most likely be killed by autoack.

If he gets hit at all by ack, he's done.  If the ack is up, a pilot on the ground at an enemy field doesn't survive long generally.  I've heard of guys approaching from specific vectors to hide behind the hangars, but that I know of they don't last long usually.  Strafing works, so does GV fire.
