Training Arena
« on: January 09, 2014, 10:34:51 PM »
Is anybody else having trouble getting into the TA?  Every time I try to go in it loads up and I immediately get the "Lost connection to host" message.

Ok, so I have been playing around with some of my settings.  I have found that while running a Max Texture size of 512, I can get in the Training Arena with no problems.  I have always run 1024 Max Texture and been able to get in no problem, but I guess something happened when I changed my max texture.  When I changed it back to 1024, I can't get in the TA, but I can get in all other arenas no problem.  I have already deleted the TA map and reinstalled it twice, and that doesn't help.  Any ideas?

NOTE:  Can this be moved now that we know I have an issue?

Ok, you have a number of things running in the background stealing resources.  The game can be configured to easily overwhelm your computers resources.  If you want to clean up the background processes, it might help with the resource issues.

You need to set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 512 with no anti-aliasing.  1024 is going to be on the very edge of the video card's resources with only 512MB of video RAM.  Or, you could disable skins, if they are enabled.  Definitely disable shadows and environment mapping.
