190-A8 and F8 rudder
« on: January 11, 2014, 09:49:02 PM »
Is it just me, or do the 2 190's have a problem with the rudder being shot off from and direction? I've been shot head on by ww's and bombers, and the rudder has been the first to go more often than not. Even had a few 1 ping shots from in front of me take it off, making it unflyable, even making it fly backwards when shot off.

I fly the Fw-190A5 almost exclusively and rarely lose the rudder. Sometimes but rare. I would think you've had random bad spot.

normally first the outer cannon go ,then oil leak, then half of one wing or the other outer gun.

Save hit it spot on.  Rarely have I lost a rudder, but I tend to ride the A5 over the other variants.

i drive 5-8-F. I agree with boo, save and bacon.  it is almost a never thing in my instance, that rudder hangs in there like a champ.

I honestly don't see why anyone would pick anything other than the A-5 for air superiority flights. The A8 and D9 are simply less dangerous, and not just because they tend to be flown worse.

Full disclosure, I am a self proclaimed member of the Butcher Bird Mafia, which is based on the beautiful A5.

I've gone head to head against all of the other 190s and can count on one hand how many times I've lost. The Dora and 152 are faster but that only lasts so long. I've been told the 152 outturns the A5 though hasn't happend yet. All good birds, and very dangerous though the A5 is the knife fighter.

190F8 is arguably the worst dog-fighter in the game, if you learn to survive in the F8, you have in effect taken a masters in SA.

190F8 is no worse than a P47 below 10k.

Any type of p47 will out-turn a F8, and do not lose E like the E-vaporizing F8.
The 47-m can , and the 47-N can probably catch a F8 at all altitudes, only roll and terminal dive speed is better in the F8.

When light, the F-8 isn't horrible. If you get caught on ingress, you can basically kiss any chance of getting ordnance on target good bye, but if you ditch ordnance, and set yourself up smart before the first pass, you might still get back to base.

Obviously, you have not spent much time in a P40F.   ;)
