So they need to sit in the tower guessing if they are on track or if the torps have missed? Torp runs in MA are 95% death for anyone who tries to close with the CV. Training in the TA does not take into account people turning the boat.
It would be a nail biter to see your torps tracking to hit the CV only to see it start to swing away... and your fish passes just forward. That is more entertaining then watching the clock on the wall of the tower.
You forgot something, the sight of the hit that may very well be what sinks her.

Um... Has no one ever read the write-up for torpedo runs that give you consistant hits with no damage to you?

This does work pretty darn well...
However back to the point of the wish WEEEE I'm RIDING A TORP! ;D
You seem to have forgetten 2 things, providing folks pay enough attention; 1) People turning the CV (which doesn't happen as often against a torpedo run as one would expect), and the most important thing, 2) People in the Twin 5" guns. Now, unless the opposing side is brain dead (which happens now and again

), if you follow that write up, you'll have been smoked before you even reach the drop point. They will spot you forever ago and be waiting. And it's very easy to pick someone off on the deck, well outside of auto-ack range with the 5" guns.

EDIT: Dang it stabby, you beat me to it.
