Smoke and fire
« on: February 02, 2014, 11:34:35 AM »
When you bomb and shoot the town down, there must be fire and smoke, like in real life.
When the town is taken down to wf, there should be 2 or 3 black smoke and flames, like vhs or fhs and it would be nice, if there is also 10 to 15 grey smoke like panzers smoke grenades. And grey smoke should last 30 mins.

Would be a frame rate killer for the lower end computers. Other than that, I'm all for more eye candy.

Simply have an option for things under the 'eye-candy' file, to be disabled if necessary to preserve framerates.

Good idea though +1 OP

most would just turn it off.  some due to fps but others mostly because they couldnt see the town buildings with all the smoke.  I have a decent computer and I know I would just turn it off so I could see m3's and tanks and such.

as fugi said...its a huge frame rate killer.....

and one of those things that should not be able to turn off....that would give a unfair advantage...one can not see due to smoke one can see because he shut it off.....

its not like "auto take off" thats the type of game play dynamics that can be toggled on or off.....

smoke is not one of those things.....

and it is truly a huge FPS killer.

I wonder if HTC could implement smoke in a similar way that they did fog.   I recall a port that had very dense fog less than 100 ft and up to 1k above the port that was so dense I nearly collided with the radar tower.   But I never lagged, my FPS actually increased to 35-50 FPS (when my computer normally does 15-20FPS).   For clouds I've had mixed reviews. I've had some clouds that absolutely crashed my computer, yet others that didn't harm the Frame rates at all.  Perhaps HTC could 'modify' the smoke to replicate that; so the smoke doesn't lag those with lower quality computers, yet still is 'realistic'.

And I agree, that smoke shouldn't be able to be turned off because then those who have it on are at a disadvantage. (Akin to that of the "gamma effect" during night time).

Yeah it's strange that hangars burn and houses don't.

if all the houses burned and the smoke was more like real life...the game would be unplayable.
