Well they must've pulled something off...  Or did you hear about the game from magic gnomes?

The same way I found AW way back when, When Aw shut down I did another internet search for WWII flight games and found  and Aces High and some others, I tried  and liked AH. I've been here a very long time and can count on one hand the number of times I've seen commercial advertisement for this game and I've never seen it on a prime time show on a prime time network.

....and so if the community can help by bringing it up in social media we should NOT because it isn't our responsibility. huh, what a wonderful world you must live in.
I just said that "Word of Mouth doesn't work".   If you think a "Like" or what ever on FaceBook will drive thousands of additional subscribers to this game, well go for it.  I'm just saying if AH doesn't care to advertise it's product, why should the community of players.  In my world, a business sets a budget to produce it's product and that budget generally includes advertising.

I agree they should spend more money on advertising. I think a print add in Fine Scale Modeler wouldn't break the bank but would reach a large number of people who may find this game interesting. On the other hand telling people "not to bother" with social media is foolish.

It is THE in thing right now as far as reaching out to hundreds, thousands of people for MOST people. A company on a small budget can't go wrong with using it, and if people are willing to put in a small amount of time to help it can help spread the word about this game.

Why would you "poo-poo" any idea that might help get that info out?

Htc. Has awesome plan up there sleeves.  They are going to let war thunder become a old game people get tired with it.  The. They will then come out with new terrain.  Then they will advertise and get a good bit the crowd in

I would "poo-poo" any unauthorized info that represented being originated from AH that did not come from AH.  Are the advertisers representing actual fact, authorized by AH?  Are the advertisers authorized to represent  the true nature and value of the product by AH.

Ever heard of a small little indie title called Minecraft? It exploded almost only through word of mouth when it was still in alpha/beta testing.

As to advertising in prime time TV... that would be a misguided use of a huge chunk of the advertising budget. Those 15-30 slots cost a huge amount and the viewers they reach might only contain a small % of potential players.

New media enables a much more focused allocation of budget. I.E after the new engine is added, find a Youtuber who has a large WT/WOT following like Jingles or Quickybaby to start looking and doing LPs of AH. Jingles has 180,000 + subs who are there to watch WW2 flying and Tank combat games. Though the film viewer needs a real reworking to make it much more user friendly to help with this.

Having spent about 20 years in marketing and advertising word of mouth is the best (and worst) form of advertising available to a business.  Studies have shown that an individual consumer will express their satisfaction (or disatisfaction) with a product or service to eight other people.

Due to the costs involved, mass market advertising is only effective for large scale (mostly) consumer oriented businesses.  In this environment you'd be lucky to reach 1% of people who see the ad, have a computer and are interested in WWII airial combat simulations.  That's 1% of people meeting all three conditions.  Target marketing to a niche audience could bump that number up to 6% or maybe even higher.  Furthermore, the only way mass market advertising works at all is through saturation repetition making the stakes much higher.

Having been involved in Internet advertising I found that even if I reached my target audience through traditional media (radio, television, print) the likelyhood of those people acting to click on the website once they were back at their computers was greatly reduced so I wasn't able to even pull the 1-6% numbers.  Online advertising had the greatest effect as people could immediately act on impulse after seeing my message.  Response rates to specific campaigns produced numbers exceeding 20% and rarely fell below the 6% range.

The confluence of these realities are why every large and small company in existance now rely to a great degree on social media to spread their message and to monitor consumer sentiment.

I'll contact HT on your behalf to try to work out a deal whereby you get 10% of the proceeds for one year from people who sign subscriptions to AH due to prime time TV advertising.  I dare you to put up the money to run those prime time ads on major networks.

BTW, here's all you need to get started:  http://www.adweek.com/news/television/their-prime-broadcast-spot-costs-soar-132805  I can hear you counting up all those subscriptions already.

Ahhhh I see so you NEVER listen to opinions of people who go to the movies, or say buy lawn mowers that you may be interested in, or any other word of mouth advertising/promotion/opinion on any product you look to use or purchase. You rely totally on "official" advertisements put out by those company's you are looking to possibly purchase from. You have never bought items for your company on the recommendations of friends or business partners, again relying totally on the "un bias"  advertising of the company you purchase from?

Pleaseeeeee

If the viewer was easier, I would spend more time playing with it..  I would then post videos online when I came across good sorties...

Judging by that uninspiring film of AH I saw not so long ago that was made from players films, I think it would be best if HTC didn't do the advertising of AH themselves.
That film for sure would have put me off had I not already know what playing AH was actually like.

Ahhhh I see so you NEVER listen to opinions of people who go to the movies, or say buy lawn mowers that you may be interested in, or any other word of mouth advertising/promotion/opinion on any product you look to use or purchase.

100% correct.  I rely on my own research and determine if the product meets my needs and decide if I want to pay the price asked.   As to going to the movies, I watch the reviews given by the professional movie reviewers, if they pan it, I go see it, if they love it, I pass it bye.

You rely totally on "official" advertisements put out by those company's you are looking to possibly purchase from. You have never bought items for your company on the recommendations of friends or business partners, again relying totally on the "un bias"  advertising of the company you purchase from?

I rely on no one except myself,  I decide.
