Clean fight or not?
« on: January 22, 2014, 12:17:54 AM »
This is a film of a fight I had with a P-39.  I felt it was a clean angles fight but the other fella felt I made repeted HO attempts, I would like honest opinions onmy fighting ettiquet, and also constructive critisism on my skill so I can improve as I ahve just recently returned from a 4 year hiatus.  At first I ignored the P-39 and went for a couple C-47's because the P-39 wasnot a serious threat, when the P-39 became a threat I engaged and what followed was a very fun fight.  The other stick was superiorto meand would have won had he been in an equal airplane, but he wasnt and I won.

A HO shot requires flying straight at each other. You were both in max turns so no HO.

You're giving the bandit shots at you because you're usually going for a quick shot instead of flying to position for a good shot. Granted the kill shot was lead pursuit to a crossing shot but early in the fight you would have benefited from lag pursuit, pointing your nose behind the bandit, and flying to a position behind him for a tracking shot. This would have given the bandit less opportunity to shoot at you.

A JG"Experten" flying a Spit16 and using it to shoot me in the face like a 2 week nub.

You should be ashamed of yourself, Hot to Hot aspect is a Head On.

You got your deserved death when you fell asleep on the runway.

Let me guess - the P-39 was Dolby?

Yes, face shots are annoying sometimes, especially when you lose them... the simple solution is to turn around and get shot in your 6.

good analysis but ur missing a point, the p39 has no change to establish a successful lag pursuit here. Spit16 has the acceleration and speed advantaged  ... best option here to go for lead pursuit force the spit16 turn into and try to change the fight into a turn fight where you can stay in spit16s turns...

you can try this in game, during a lag pursuit if your enemy is still getting away from you its pretty much useless to continue it. you should either start climbing to close the alt diff. or head other way to get some separation

The advice was for the Spit not the P-39.

Wow Dolby your lack of sportsmanship is shocking, I was respectful to you even through your bashing.  Enough is enough, face it you got smoked by a four week nub.  Instead of spending your energy crying just practice more.  By the way if you care to watch the video you took the same shots I did.

You are in no place to cry foul sportsmanship when you're face shooting.

Worst of all posting film proving that.

If you're going to carry a tag that says "experten" you could at least fly as if you know something.

Quit wasting people times with your stupidity and lame flight. Go look at Strebenstein, you might learn something.

I think the anguish here comes from flying the brickish type planes and being set upon by "easy mode" planes with no apparent appreciation or concern for the difference in the rides capabilities. Well, life is suffering. I don't think its that unsporting for a new player to get desperate and shooty when flying a spit16 against a p39 with a quixotic pilot of substantive skill. If the new fellow proceeds to crow and trash talk about his achievement, now that is dorkish I would say.

On a related question, is it unsporting when 3 La7 2 Spit16 and 1 Yak3 feel the need to all be shooting at an f4f at the same time?

I agree entirely.  In fact I publicly recognized his superior skill and stated that had he been in an equal plane he would have smoked me.  I simply wanted opinions from better sticks than me as to whether I took unfair shots.  I was called out and flamed on 200 by the other guy simply because I came out the winner, due to my superior plane not skill.  I remained respectful as long as I could even while being trash talked.  I have watched my film three times and I am certain it was cleanly fought and in fact he took the same shots he attacked me for taking.  In the end he put himself in several bad positions and had to run twice as he was out of options.  I am not responding to that person in any way anymore at this point because if his terrible behavior here and in the game.

You gotta be kidding me, I didn't Head On you, or take your shots, I neither ran out of options.
You can continue to respond, because your position is untenable.

Nimrod, do not get apologetic. There are lucky shots, and stupid shots, and vodka shots, but there are no unfair shots. Don't be humble - you shot down a good player, so congratulate yourself and move on. He will likely shoot you down in the next 9 encounters, but that means nothing - same as your kill meant nothing. Its a game, every player has his day, and good players get shot down too.

Next, either tune out of ch200, or learn to relish the name calling and whines. There are some players from which I absolutely expect a PM or reply on ch200 after a kill. These guys are the best fun. Say "thank you" and give them a salute like a gentleman - some of them will rage even more :)
