I'm a backer.  I signed up for $24 worth.   :aok

That is the first RPG that has really grabbed my attention, ever.

Hell, this is the first KS I've ever done. This is THE game I've been waiting for.

I thought of that band also....but disagree with the whole "sound nearly identical to Led Zeppelin"   :old:

sorry for the slight hijack -

ink, tht is what the local radio station claimed back then in the 80's.... me personanlly thought they sounded similar to LZ on 1 or 2 songs..... one of the radio show hosts even tryed to claim that the lead singer was one of robert Plant's sons.........but that never held any water/truth.....

anyways...... my thoughts on the band.... they were ok and different from some of the more commercialized rock of the time.... heck White Snake was awesome until they hit MTV with that "Still of the night" BS...... all their older music was good.....

TC ( I'll check out the game, so I maybe can comment on it....... )

You guys still following this?

Anyone ever followed a launch approach like this before? Seems abnormal, you think this is really a go?

Yeah, I'm still following. They've already secured all their funding via both investors and the Kickstarter campaign.

Mount & Blade goes MMORPG?

The core is a single-player RPG. There will be multiplayer elements of some sort, but exactly how it will work hasn't been discussed yet.

Functional question about how this game is being developed. They do all of their fundraising via future subscribers? 36,629 players have paid in advance a total of $1,895,477 to develop the game. After that they get to play for free?

If this actually works, holy cow could I put together a team and....

They actually had financial backing lined up via investors, however they started getting cold feet over the premise (a Medieval RPG with no fantasy elements: No elves, dwarves, magic, etc). The Kickstarter was a compromise: If they raised $500,000 by the end of the Kickstarter campaign, that would show sufficient interest by the public to justify the investors to commit.

They raised the target in LESS THAN THREE DAYS. The subsequent $1.3M has been a bonus.

Yeah I first saw this game when the guys making Starcitizen put a link on their forums. I pledged for 20 bucks, game looks like it will be great. A note towards Mount and blade I don't have quite that many hours but Im close. Do you use any mods? Right now im using the Blueblood mod and sometimes Ill play on a Game of Thrones mod. Supposedly there is a new mount and blades game in the works, can't wait for that.

EDDIT: I also use the Freelancer mod in M&B, pretty cool being able to work your way up the ranks.

I think the availability of some awesome mods, and the fact that the folks that made MB is the reason the game is still really popular, I haven't checked in awhile but its always near the top on Steam's list of most played games. Yep 6,554 people played MB today. I really like it when devs not only include mod tools

That one is a master piece. Amazing work and an incredible investment of time. I also keep the older M&B installed just to play 1866 western mod - probably the most brilliant mod of all.

The engine is used for other total conversion mods that turned into their own games. Check out "Caribbean!":

Me and Two friends were working on a 30 year war mod (that would focus on a segment of the 100 years war). Got about 1/2 done before they had to give up on it.  :cry  I was able to go a little further but had to stop due to not knowing anything of the coading/ computer couldn't handle any of the software to make new armor/ weapons.  It is something I plan on finishing when I get my new rig.

Other mods I played were Prophesy of Pendor, Brytenwalda and the 1886 mod too.  I read on the new game Bannerlord II, that they will have many of the Diplomacy Mod's features in it. (Like having the ability to switch fiefs with some of the other vassals of a kingdom, better negotiations and more room to act when ruling a kingdom or being a lord over a fief).  I am really looking forward to it, and I am hoping that the system will be just as easy to mod.

The mods I've used easily added 800+ hours of gameplay, I've only played 10 hours or so multiplayer.   Very very fun indeed.
