RedTop's Bass Boat project....
« on: January 27, 2014, 06:35:28 PM »
As most of you know I bass fish a bunch....This winter I decided to do some upgrades and work on my boat. With my Dads passing recently I've found this helps keep my mind occupied... If the dang weather will just get right I can finish...  :) Here's a few pics from the first part....

Re-carpeting.... This is what it looked like before I started....

Now this is what I tore off....

Now I'm to this point...

Looking good!

I've undertaken a boat project for this winter too.  I don't need to re-do the carpeting on mine, but I've swapped boats and need to re-do all of the electronics.

You buying new? Or just redoing the ones you had? I have the Humminbird 1197c SI and the 997c SI for my fish finders...and a Lowrance LMS520 I use for GPS.

Lowrance has some nice touch screens now...and Humminbird came out with the 360 imaging.

Definitely not new, lol.

I had an '84 Chris Craft Skorpion 186, with a 236hp V8 in it, that's bigger than I wanted.  My "second" job is as a ranger at a Boy Scout camp.  They were in need of a boat they could use for skiing, and I was willing to swap it for a 1989 Lund Stinger 1600 with a 40hp Mercury outboard (plus some cash).

The CC is water-worthy as it stands, so I don't have to do anything with it, but the Lund has been sitting for quite some time.  The boat is in great condition, but the wiring is pretty ugly.

I'm re-doing the majority of it, and moving my fish finders, riggers, etc., over to the Lund.  Hopefully I'll have it ready to go for when the water isn't stiff anymore.

When you said "Bass boat" I thought you meant the instrument.

Nice looking boat though.

Nice boat!

I would kill for a dual console when I'm riding shotgun on those 35 degree 60 mph runs up the lake.

Nice boat!

My boat adventures have all been put on hold now.  A much more exciting project came up (one that will hopefully make money and not be a hole in the water that I throw money into) and if that flies I won't have time to make buying a nice boat worthwhile right now.

I have had an offer from a couple here to pay for their walkon mooring and the insurance for a 32' Tiara, for which I get 100% exclusive use for a year.  May do that for this summer.
