EVE online
« on: January 30, 2014, 07:32:13 PM »
Anyone here play it? I started my 2 week free trial yesterday and I've done a few of the career tuorial missions but I'm super lost for the most part. Anyone want to take me in and help me out?

Ruah, spelled just like that, on the bbs may be able to point you to somebody in game to help you out.  He ran what is still the 3rd oldest corporation, PIE, in Eve, and is an old hand and still has a lot of contacts and such in the game.  I'm sure if you PM'd him he could at least point you in the best direction for help.

That big battle all started because one guy forgot to pay one tiny bill for some station or something in one sector of space.  I bet his guys are happy with him after losing 50 or more Titans and who knows how many other capital ships.  I wish you could play the video in normal speed of that fight, they are all in 10 percent speed, as that's what they have to throttle the servers to I read in order to keep up with all that data.

Awesome I will give him a shout and see if he can hook me up with something. I don't even begin to understand the whole corporation thing yet. Or anything for that matter lol

It's a time-sink like no other game I've played. If you can't afford to invest a lot of time it really isn't worth it in the long run. The "single-player" mission running and mining gets old fast.

I agree, I played EVE when it first came out in 2003 and that was exactly how I felt about it, however it has grown and become a much cooler game since then.

Well I don't know how much time I'll get to play it, but I figure anything is worth a try.

BTW I've yet to figure out how much it costs to play.. Is it a monthly fee or what? The fact that I've yet to find it anywhere is frankly kinda scary.. Must be outrageous.

Its 15 a month sub, but you can pay $20 for a Plex Card. This can be used for 30 days of play or can be sold in game for a very nice chunk of change. If you make enough money in game you can play for free by buying the Plex off the AH.

I've played the game off and on for a few years. I've had some good fights fighting in null sec. I once participated in a fleet op that destroyed over 30 capital ships in a span of 30 minutes. It was quite intense. I had my Abaddon battleship in the fleet and had to call for logistical support more than a few times. :)

I love the game, but unfortunately I just don't have the time to invest in null sec gameplay (the gameplay I enjoy the most). That being said, I don't play much these days.

I've been playing for a year now doing the mining, exploring, manufacturing, rat killing and Planetary Interaction over in Amarr and surrounding areas. I pretty much stay in low and high sec unless I have armed escort into null sec. I'm in Crimson Collective/ 0RIG corp and go by Dusty Rhoads. Home base is Hamse.

I agree. It looks beautiful and it is very deep, but I don't plan to live long enough to play it.

I play as well, but haven't been on much in the past couple of months.  In game my main character is Sol Corrado.. go ahead and add me to your list and when I do get a chance to get on ill send you a message.. that goes for all you other players out there as well...

I concentrate mainly on stealth cloaky type ships :)

As I'm reluctantly looking at the market for a possible AH replacement I have a question: How suitable is this game for the proverbial lone wolf player? I have never ever joined a AH squad, and I would avoid any game were had to join any squad/clan/alliance for 'success' and enjoyment.
And how important are reflexes/reaction time? I'm not getting any younger and am already kinda avoiding furballs in here because I find them exhausting me quickly...  :uhoh

Reflex and reaction time in EVE are not nearly as important as in AH2 ( if your comparing the two ) the game is very fun for a lone wolf, but to really get all the game has to give your eventually going to need others unless you want to repeat the same basic task like mining over and over.
