So does anyone here know how to use the eve toolkit? I built an Excel sheet for ore so I know what ore is currently going for the most ISK per m3 in Jita.
It also calculates how much each stack of ore I own is worth, how much all owned ore is worth, and how many m3 of ore I own.

The only bad thing is I have to update the unit price of every ore on the chart myself. I want it to be able to pull that data off the internet so the only thing I have to do is type in how much ore I own and let it tell me the rest. I messed around a bit with the info and links here: http://dev.eve-central.com/evec-api/start but I never could get anything to work.

I also plugged some of those links into a website made a few years back for something else but it didn't show any data, only links. I'm no internet genius so I don't understand the postdata and all that stuff. But I'd really like to learn how to make it work with my chart or even on a website.

Well, after a month of playing and learning it seems that it's indeed not a game for a "lone wolf" unless you have been around for a very long time.

I was expecting to get smashed a lot by other players in pvp, but it seems unless I limit myself to mining in totally safe regions or mission running (as boring as fighting offline in AH) I can totally forget it. Not just because I lack experience and a lot of player skills, and not even because I don't have the money for better equipment. It's extremely lopsided because my pilot has not the skills yet to use the equipment necessary to survive more that just 4-10 seconds when being jumped by just a single enemy (most of the time it's many more).
All I could do so far was totally avoid combat with other players by not venturing into low sec... which doesn't make the game very exciting or fun for me.

Looking at the skills I figure it takes my like another 1-2 months of real time to be able to get be on par with the majority of "bad guys" which only would start to give me something like a small chance to survive at least every once in a while. I'm afraid I would have to wait even longer than that to be really able to play as a lone wolf...

Too bad, as I really like the complexity of that universe.  :(

Go join up with Eve University or Brave Newbies. They'll get you into the action, help you out with your isk problems, and there are people in both camps who can tell you just about anything you'd need to know about the game.

I don't have ISK problems and it's not exactly the lack of information I'm suffering from. My 'problem' is a different one, as explained in my wall of text ;)

You have to gang up to do anything fun in EVE. Find a corp.

It's very much possible I have only a few months left before I'm not longer being able to fully 'learn' a new game anymore  :noid

Lusche... You should try your hand in pirating... It is a lot of fun. You can fly lone wolf but at least you have a few guys to back you up if you get yourself stuck in a jam.

PS: Level your character up to fly a battlecruiser (Drake, Hurricane, Harbinger are good options) and you can take on most anything in a 1-4 man roam in low sec.

Well, pirating is a bit difficult, for I'm naturally being immediately attacked by the gangs of other pirates I encounter in lowsec.
As GScholz said: It's a game where you have to gang up.... or stay in highsec and mine or run level 1 missions ;)

And for the BC... yes, I looked at it, but also at the time I need to bring my pilot's skills to a level that makes flying a BC viable. Another 2 months of just mining while I slowly creep up the skill ladder...

I can only afford one single game, and I'm not looking forward to spend that money on a game where I can't find "my" fun. Which, to be clear, isn't the game's 'fault' at all. I think the game is great  :old:
