"Host connection lost" when trying to connect to arena
« on: January 30, 2014, 08:37:06 PM »
Getting immediated booted from late war arena craterma map when logging in. Previous map worked ok. ping around 60.

Was getting 59-60 fps on previous map, bish won war, then booted each time after logging in to new map craterma with 7 fps.

Originally max texture was set at 2048, tried 1024 and 512 still didn't work, same problem.

Max texture set to 256 worked. Only adjusted max texture, all other video settings stayed same.

Did something change?

Thanks.

I can't even log in now. Goes through all the motions of logging in.... get a few lines in the text buffer of players and see flashing base or two..but says lost host connection shortly after that...maybe two seconds. Just happened after last patch.
So I deleted the game...reloaded from the Hitech web page and same thing.....Lost Host Connection..... kinda sucks..... what happened with last patch?

Having problems here as well. I lost host connection 5 times in the space of about an hour. Started up with CMA, no problems before hand. Very regular as well, about every 10-15 minutes.

You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

I have had several problems since the update.  Screen freezing, control problems and now i can not log on.  It states" host connection lost".  I want to do a new download but I do not want to lose all of my settings.  Please help.

back up your settings folder and if you have custom sounds that folder as well..... delete the game and reload.... replace your saved folders if the game is running OK

I never got back in the late war arena..or any other for that matter. saved my files... removed the game.... reloaded it...same thing..... damn inconvenient... anyone have any ideas?
PS... I disabled the firewall and the AV when reloading and also when trying to run the game...didn't work

Wow... I never even get in the map...well... actually I think it is online for a second or two because I sometimes catch a line or two of actual text chat.....before it pops up a lost host connection and the text buffer says switching to TCP or something like that.... the map is still there...several bases are flashing.... but no dar, no cons and no actions work.....HELP ME PALEEEEZZZE

not to mention...what do I do about it?

It appeared that AH was working my computer so hard to draw terrain details that AH couldn't maintain a good enough comm rate with the server to stay connected. This was evident by the low frame rate that lasted for several seconds with the video buffer count going up then dumping back to 0.

That's why tried reducing max texture size in video settings, which are available when you first start AH before you log in online. Reducing max texture to 256 finally got me in to the arena without getting booted. This was just a quicker way to tweak video settings than going to offline mode because I tried that too. In offline mode craterma was bogging down the same way.

Even with my max texture setting reduced from 2048 to 256, fps went down from 60 to 40 in craterma (including offline mode).

This happened to me until I fixed the settings in Window's firewall...

For some reason it has started tripping it thus killing consistent connection...

Check your settings and make sure AH2 has full permission...

Thank You MrKrabs. Already gave AH full permissions in windows firewall.

Once I get in to the arena without initially getting booted, my connection is good and stable.

In this case craterma is having same effect on computer in offline mode.

I believe getting booted right after logging in is just a side effect of strain on computer to get craterma terrain up and running.

Same thing happens to me as Excaliber when my max texture setting is above 256.

Uncheck the "Bump map buildings" option in the Options->Graphic Detail->Advanced panel.

What is happening is your computers are taking to long to load everything and the game is timing out.  It has nothing to do with frame rate.  It has everything to do with how fast your CPU is and how much free resources your computer has.

If you already have that option unchecked, then uncheck "Detailed Terrain" and that should do it.

Please post your results.

Without posting your system specs, or even better the dxdiag report, all anyone can do is guess...and my guess is your systems were on the edge of minimum and now they fell off that edge. Some maps are more resource hungry than others, and CraterMA being a newer map with lots of custom textures and details, is enough to kill your computer while loading it, causing AH to drop you because it is unable to communicate properly due to your CPU struggling to deal with the terrain loading.
