<S> guys

In all my yrs of living up here in the norton sound region of alaska i have never ever seen it like this during the winter. No snow. Maybe about a foot of snow. Generous foot. No ice. We have a beach. Normally we would not be able to see the ice edge at this time of year.  Warmest winter as well. It rained in january even. Odd. Am wonderin if any bears have wokeb up early from hibernation. Sheesh.
Am wondering how rich oil companies and clothing companies made this year down states in sales or profits

Meanwhile at America's food bank...

"Despite a snowstorm earlier this week, the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains stands at just 12 percent of the average level, the lowest measurement in the half-century records have been kept."

Their fighting about the water again...

"In their imagined "people versus fish" scenario, towns are going dry and growers are going out of business because crazy environmentalists are hogging water to protect an obscure fish, the delta smelt. Water that could irrigate fields and keep people working is instead being kept in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and flushed into the ocean.

I just don't understand why the upper atmospheric winds have shifted like they have, which makes me think that the "world's weather energy" has shifted to some degree...you also have to think about the amount of energy needed to move that huge cold air mass off of the northern polar region down to where it is now...you look at a satellite view of the northern hemisphere and it looks like the jet streams are now circulating over middle Canada and not the pole....

Agreed,  Ive been watching some of the forcast models of the north pacific, most of the low pressure systems have be "blocked" by high pressure in the north of a alaska, Causing them to "retrograde" back over siberia.  Meanwhile the ever present High is forcing air nearly due south from the north pole down over the lower 48.

Well, winters not over yet.  Also, the people created these problems of needing so much water and fresh cabage.  iirc the west had record amounts of rain a year ago? where did that water go? should off put it in a bottle so they could enjoy the sun and dry heat without fear.

We're in a 4-6" every other day pattern. Had 5-6" yesterday. Another 5 or so tomorrow.
There's a whopper brewing with potential for 3+ feet this Weekend.

below normal here in pfrnj. last time i've seen it this cold, and this much snow, was winter of 93/94

Agreed....same weather here across the river

I remember 93 really well.......The one storm we had was 30+inches of snow....a drift off my field completely buried my wifes Mazda MX3....I mean you could not see it at all.....completely gone.

This weather now is killing us at work....just crazy crazy busy........

ha!!  mom had an 86 escort back then. the snow had gone pretty far up it. then the plow trucks came through. she called me telling me she couldn't find her car, lolol

when i didn't have the towtruck from work at home, i was driving a 74 chevy pickup 2 wheel drive, with snow chains on it.

on a side note, it looks like we might dodge that storm this weekend.......

I live in Bucks and have had the power go off a bunch of times but luckily only for a few minutes.  It went off again a few hours ago and came back - sort of.  All of my lights are now much dimmer than usual.  Why would that happen?  :noid
