How great would accurately modeled terrains be...?
« on: February 04, 2014, 03:37:01 PM »
How great would accurately modeled terrains be.. I do like the over the top terrains that we fly now.. but I wonder how much more cool it would be to fly around some accurately modeled islands in the Pacific, or possiblly inland France/German border areas... or similiar to cliffs of dover, the English channel area.. I think it would be so much more fun to actually have familiar named areas in the arenas! Maybe instead of early/mid/late war arenas we could have western europe/eastern europe/pacific theater arenas.. just an idea.. so much potential!

I take it you've never been to the AvA or SEA?  MA terrains have a fairness-for-each-side need that prevents historical terrains from being used.

I think it would be cool if it would be possible to use terrains like this if it could be balanced for the MA.

I think it would be cool to have an all water terrain in AVA once in awhile. Or even a pac terrain with longer distances between atols and islands.

Having terrain that is modeled on real locations isn't replicating WW2.  We do after all have a map already based on a real location and have had it for many years.  Other than possible balance issues, I don't see why we shouldn't be able to have maps based on real terrain locations.

We do. This ran last month.

Unfortunately, the AvA was mostly empty the week we ran an all water setup. Long distance flights don't go over well in the AvA and our shorter flight times are part of what make the AvA different.
Easy in-game again.

come on man..people try to make the MA WW2 already as it is...if there were maps that replicated the real world in the MA......that would be the nail in the coffin for the "war" guys confirming it is all about the "War" and the death knoll for the "combat sandbox"

hell I wouldn't be able to argue against it NOT replicating WW2 if there were real maps.....
