Seahawks Victory Parade

I recommend you put it on your bucket list if you're an NFL fan of a city that brings one home.

It began at 3:30am, down to Red Lion hotel (my neighbor is a manager there) then up to the 5th floor restaurant and outdoors on the deck in 25 deg weather. Did I mention the wind was blowing 20 mph? FOOOCK it was cold!

Hot meal inside, 6 hours of waiting for the parade to start but front seats and the best view in Seattle! Over 700,000 12th man fans took over downtown! Here is a 5 minute video and picture summary from my viewpoint.  You'll love the end of it, Sherman brings up the last truck as the crowd follows to the Clink!

No hating here.  My team won it last year.  We have two Super Bowl wins.   My childhood and currently backup favorite team (Washington) has three.

Congrats on your victory.  Enjoy it.  Odds are next season will be a bit more frustrating for you.

FYI - I was completely mellow watching the "high-powered" Ravens offense stink it up.  Why?  Before the season started I made a simple prediction to my wife after careful evaluation of the team and the talent we lost or traded.

"We won't be able to run the ball which will force Flacco to throw more and win the game.  He won't be able to because he's not that kind of quarterback.  8-8 and we will miss the playoffs.  Rebuilding years coming up."

If only I could predict the lottery as well.

I really don't have a 'back up' favorite team per se.  I grew up a vikings fan in Minn and watched them lose 4 super bowls (I remember watching 3 of them) The day I stepped off the train in Seattle in 1979, the Seahawks were "my team". I don't have a back up. True Blue or nothing.

Rip nice video    i was 16 when the seahawks started its been a long time coming but none the less the Victory was sweet and the Championship was well deserved, There Defense is the best ive seen in awhile cant wait for next season

Thank you and we're the same age.  

If only Seahawk outsider fans knew what hell we Seahawk fans have been through. We (The franchise, the fans...) started out as a "ohhh, that's nice, an NFL francise in Seattle!" where we got our bellybutton kicked for 7 years. Then Dave Krieg, Curt Warner (no, not THAT Kurt Warner) and hall of fame Steve Largeant changed everything. We made it to the AFC Championship game in 83 and were promptly pounded by a Raiders team we'd beaten twice in regular season (yes, we were once were AFC West and believe it or not, our first year we were NFC!) Then the Elway years began, kept us out of the conference wins. Then our string of 1st round QB draft picks began, promptly washed out and close to Ken Berring stealing the team and moving it to CA in the 90's.

The Walrus brought us back to life, falling just short of a ring in 2006 when Bettis got his ring due to the most piss poor refereeing the NFL has ever seen. Even admitted that they screwed up and potentially swung the game with the officiating. Back into rebuild mode until 2010 when John Schneider and Pete Carroll built what we had this season (and last year too, but Brandon Browner let a receiver in Atlanta get a first down and the rest was history...)

37 years. That's a long time to wait for a ring. So close many times, but so far away.

It's good to wear our colors, always has been, be it underdogs or champions...Seahawk Fans have ALWAYS been proud. Some of you INHERITED winning tradtions in your your team's history due to your age. Us old fogeys didn't inherit squat in Seattle. We supported in down years, in up years.  We don't shy way in losing years, we still wear our jerseys. No other NFL team retired a JERSEY NUMBER in honor of it's fans. That was no mistake. Someone saw us for what we are. The NFL's truest fans, through thick and thin.

We're loud, and proud, t's a game that brings STRANGERS together....and opponent fans and players don't like that. We do. That's all that counts when the dice hit the table.

I was a true blood Redskin fan until 15 years ago.   An owner like Snyder will do that to you.  I don't follow then closely anymore, but certainly don't hate them.   Ravens have had  good ownership, a great coach and organization.  That's all I require.

Well said Rip, i still remember the seattle sackhawk days fans sporting sacks over there faces to hide the shame....... Dam this championship feels good haha.

I will add it's hard to walk away from a team you had loved for so long.  I think most true football fans do so only in extreme circumstances.  Daniel Snyder is an extreme circumstance.

I was still pretty young when I moved. 18 years old when I came here in '79.
I suppose it would be impossible to get me to switch a team today.
