Running troops
« on: February 09, 2014, 07:33:47 AM »
Why are our troops running on the same line to the maproom? Why they can't change direction a little bit while running?
Is it possible that the every 100 yards, troops take cover (for example 3 seconds and icon disappear for that time) and after that they would continue in a slightly different direction?

And is it possible, that some of them are little faster and some of them are little slower than others?

Would adding any of that change the game for the better?  Me thinks it would take away from HTC's focus on terrain improvements, adding new planes and gv's, etc.

Maybe in the future, but for now I see the troops as as something out of my control, I dont want total and complete control.  As it is, I can be an admiral, a bomber pilot, a gunner, a bombardier, and a navigator all at once.   :D

This is a cool idea but -1 to the disappearing icons.

IMO, the entire troop / pilot system needs a complete overhaul. It would be nice to see the troops act more like soldiers and less like lambs to slaughter.

It is one of the biggest boner killers in game, to bail out of a plane and walk around like your floating with your terribly modeled arm stuck in front of you.. reminds me of gaming in the mid 90s.

I don't think this area will receive attention anytime soon as it would not help in new client attraction or retention.. and that seems to be the goal at the moment.

The idea was, that icon disappears only for 3 seconds at the time for every 100 yards. Only for the cover time, and shows again, when brave trooper starts running.

I can see this in the..... future. But after new terrain updates, some new planes and vehicles. Even 'new modeled fire' I see higher than this on the list.  While I understand where you are coming from (more realism, realistic looking/acting troops), I don't think that is a focus of many players when they play the game. It's what tools they can use (planes gvs etc) and how they can use them.

Sorry if I appear condescending but I honestly think that this is the case.

(Image removed from quote.)

Since it's already in the AvA, would it be difficult for HTC to move that 'coading' to EW/MW/LW?

I see some things that have been wished on this forum are in the AvA, I wonder if it would be a simple task to move them from the AvA to the other arenas. Or if it's more complicated than it seems.

Why are our troops running on the same line to the maproom?

because you dropped them all in the same spot. they don't all run in a line when dropped from a flying c47.

you realize it would just take them longer to get to the maproom right?

hey at least they're animated now.. they used to just float across the ground..

I'd like the troops 3D model to be replaced with sheep. And each goes BAAAAA! as it goes into the map room.
