I'm fond of F16 style too, comfortable.  Stick just off armrest, throttle off other armrest, keyboard in lap.

I go center.. but im using a twisty, so it would be weird to have it off to the side since I fly with both hands on it. One on the stick other on the throttle.

I use a CH Fighterstick and throttle. Stick is in front, slightly right, throttle left. Peds are below center.

If anything, flying around at 35K AGL demonstrates a clear preference to being on top.

In all seriousness, I was taught having the elbow rested and the stick in line with that (right or left, depending on dominant hand) is best.

To the right side:
1. I need to keep my left hand on the keyboard because I use it for views.
2. When I eject, the stick does not hit my balls.
