A small montly perk allowance
« on: February 18, 2014, 10:42:46 PM »
Enough for maybe one 262 run, every tour. Something of a bone thrown to the masses. It won't make much difference for the top players/serious perk formers, but the ability of the average player to earn fighter perks is apparently low enough that this might be something of a nice gesture towards them.

It could be every map reset as far as I'm concerned.  New players getting to up a couple perk rides isn't a big threat and might add some fun factor.

No, perks should be earned and not given away freely.  For a new player, it's the incentive to get better and it actually feels like a reward if you finally earn enough perks to get a perk plane/vehicle.  It will not be the deciding factor whether or not a new player continues their subscription or not, nor will it attract new players.

Then there would be times like this weekend when a person was trying to dive bomb a base with a B29 in the middle of a base attack.  Looked like an A20.

Perks used to be awarded to the winning side, everyone on the winning side got perks, I don't think that's changed.

No free perks. You earn perks by using "lowish" ENY planes.
And no, it does not favor vetrans over noobs as much as you think. The kind of kills that noobs get they will get even if the flt the Spit9 instead of Spit16, or the La5 instead of the La7, the 109G2/F4 instead of the K4 and the PonyB instead of the D. Not to mention some delux perk farmers like the 205, P47D11/25, Mossie VI, and KI61, all of which are a LOT more capable fighters than given credit for.

I do not want to see more 262s flying around, nor squadrons of Tempests and F4U4, nor streams of B29s or Arados.

Instead, we need more ways to burn the perks we already have and keep getting. Give me the ability to create missions and pay the perks for the people who join. I'd be happy to pay for 262s or whatever for any noobs that wants it. Then perk some ords.

I earn more perks than I will ever use. I just thought getting to crash a 262 in the MA once a month or so might help with noob retention. :salute

When I first started it took me over 6 months before I got enough perks to fly a 262.

I think it's a decent wish, I think it should apply to accounts under 6 months old (so 6 'allowances').

And BnZs makes a plucky attempt to defend himself from the inevitable and inappropriate extrapolation with which he's just been tarred...

Ask a noob. I'm not exactly one any more but my interest in my perks is pretty low, other than as trophy points.after all, what do I need them for? Mostly, I want to fly my g14 or the f4 or g6. When I'm feeling crazy, I'll grab a 410 or a '38, '39, or '40. Wooden ships, Iron men... Perk drivers? Meh.

Or model more perk ac... Like the do335 or the Meteor, or maybe even the a26. Perhaps the Henschel guided bombs would be good perk ordnance for the ju88.

I think the game could handle you doing that once a month.

I've earned over 500 fighter perks in the one and a half tours since I returned to the game, and if they had *all* been Fm2 sorties instead of a bunch in the P-51D, it would probably be over 1000  :D But there isn't much I like to spend them on. A C-Hog run occasionally.

If anything, maybe for the two week trials the perk planes can be flown without perk point cost for the perspective subscriber.
