Wow, 2 days, and 2 interesting threads in a row, without any of the usual rowdiness.  Full moon or something out?

...

I should stay out then...... :D

oh..........

 too late

I remember it well, I walked over to my landlord's place, he lived across from me....he is sitting down all hunched over a computer....

I didn't even own a PC at this time, nor did I ever own one before...I am 34 years old...it is 2004

JOZEPI as I am sure some of you will remember was a P38 dweeb...was the landlord.....I asked him what he was doing, he said "fighting people from all over the world"...I was pretty impressed with that in itself...never heard of it before....

I said to him " so you are telling me you can Kill those people...and NOT go to prison.....sign me up"

within the month I tattooed some guy for a computer....

he happened to have Fighter Ace installed in the comp I got from him.....

I practiced offline with Fighter ace because Fighter Ace, had AI that would attack you... whereas Aces High didn't

I could kill all the AI at the highest level,(they came at you in waves of 5...at least thats what I set up.... it was strange the offline "fighter" AI just did circles like AH but load up a bomber enemy and give it escorts and they would attack you)) I showed JOZEPI that I could kill waves after waves of them....he let me fly that day online for the first time....

its funny he was sitting right behind me watching.....my first fight with someone he says..."you cant do that"

 :rofl :rofl :rofl

I say why the hell not :t

been called a cheater hundreds of times since..... :rofl :rofl

holy crap.......I just realized.....I have been flying off and on(mostly on) for 10 years in AH.... :O :O

I was playing Chuck Yeagers Air Combat offline on my brand new Mac. My wife's BIL was over and said that he flew in AW and what fun it was. So, I got myself up and flying in AW Mac version. I spent about a week looking for him before I realized he had a PC. I spent about 6 months flying the Mac version before I got a PC. That's when things really started ! I played AW from then on until EA killed it. I spent time with several squads (ASB, AIF, Motley Aces, Sky something, and ended in +KIC+ (Knights of the Iron Cross). It was a rollicking good time.
After AW died, I tried AH but it wasn't what I hoped it would be. Nothing wrong with it mind you, but I was hoping for an identical AW. That wasn't happening. I flew FA for a short while then I went to Warbirds for about a year and then stopped flying altogether. In the meantime I started playing Delta force with some of my work friends (Army helicopter unit), then I moved on to FPS (Day of Defeat, Battlefield1942, COD...blah, blah, blah).
Back in September/October 2013 I found War Thunder, and dusted off the joystick...which wouldn't work since I no longer had a gameport (it also was analog, so no adapter either), I picked up a nice cheap joystick on ebay, and began flying again in earnest. Once I was flying again the memories came flooding back and being a touch nostalgic, I came back to AH to look for my old flying buddies. War Thunder is pretty, but the gameplay is awful. I like the teamwork I learned in AW, and that is what I see here. Now to just pony up the monthly tab and things will be good again.

I was waiting around in the mall for my wife. I wandered over to a computer software store and they had a "bargain bin" out front. So to kill time I was going through and I found a box  with Air Warrior. Took it home and played the crap out of it. Got anyone I could to connect up in a LAN to fight against. Then AOL got the game and was offering for free..... to AOL members  :furious So I bit the bullet and joined AOL  :bhead We use to spend more time in the "chat rooms" waiting for an opening in the arenas. Once I got in I would spend as much time as I could being someones target  :neener:

Stayed with Air Warrior until the end. A squadmate and I hunted around looking for the "next fix" a few months before AW demises. Thru google and every other search engine we could find we looked for flight sim games. We tried FA, WB and AH. AH won hands down.

I would also say my first head to head vs a human opponent was some F86 game on the good old Commodore 64, the "go to" gaming machine of my high school years, until the early xt/at and 286's came out in my final year.  I forget the name of the game, I searched and can't find it for the life of me, but it was a split screen, a horizontal split, and one guy had the top, the other the bottom, and it was my first experience of seeing another plane on screen being flown by a human opponent.

It was as thrilling as the first flight sim that had an external view with a filled in model of the aircraft, I think that was one of the very early Microprose F19 games, just not the first one, it still had the F15 Strike Eagle-like linear models.

I remember it was back in 1999 or 2000 when I was only about 9 years. I didn't have a computer at the time. I had to use the public library to do my homework and projects until one day my dad got me a cheap computer. I think it was a Compact with windows 95 lol. I didn't have Internet at the time but I used the computer to type and create major power points. After I won the school spelling bee contest my parents decided to give me Internet lol. It was really slow dial up connection. Since I was about 4-5 years old my family always gived me either planes or trucks for birthday or Christmas gifts. I had many different kinds of planes from jets to ww1 to jumbo jet planes lol. After then I really fell in love with planes and how kool they looked while flying. After the spelling bee win I became friends with this guy and he loaned me a game call Sabre Ace:Conflict over Korea. After playing the missions and stuff I became a bigger fan of planes and flight sims. After graduating Junior high my dad bought me a better computer with a flat screen, even though it was a 17 inch I was glad to have a new computer. Back then everyone wanted flat screen. He also gives me a better Internet connection and on my free time I enjoyed researching planes especially ww2 planes. I started watching the military channel because they had programs about these planes. Then I saw a commercial about aces high and I downloaded it right away. I didn't have a joystick but I carefully took my time with trial and error and used my mouse and keyboard. Until this day I still use that same computer, mouse and keyboard to fly. Please don't laugh the comp is about 14 years old but with all the history I have with it I just can't let it go. I do have a modern day lap top for personal use. That was around 2006 when I got aces high. (Rud3boi)

My dad was apart of Air Warrior and began training me to fly this game at a young age. Which explains why I have been around for so long. He has now retired from flight sims and the navy.
