Japan trying to find a location for used nuclear waste storage

What are they thinking? Obvious answer is Fukushima. Just dig a tunnel there and dump the stuff, not like it's going to pollute the surroundings any further than it already is...

The accident at Fukushima is blamed on the tidal wave but what the tidal wave was just the instrument.  All the nuclear plants have the same flaw.  The new plants being built are even more likely to have an accident since we have adopted Japen's way of licensing and building the plants.   The "Oh! That want happen here.  Trust me." licensing method.

Keep in mind the accident involved loss of cooling water.  Our power companies were quick to say, "Oh! That want happen here.  Trust me."  Untrue.

AFAIK the accident had nothing to do with loss of cooling water. The tidal wave and earthquake cut off the external source of power and flooded the emergency generators which stoped the cooling pumps and prevented the technicians from issuing an emergency shutdown. This lead into core meltdown and the resulting explosion was the reason for loss of cooling water.

The reliance on outside power is the achilles heel in nuclear power plants.

This statement is one of those stupid things people say on the internet.  It obviously had something to do with the loss of cooling water. Don't give your own argument such an obvious flaw, for all of our sanity.
