While I agree with the principles of play style, I think hordes are not resulting due to difficulty of capture. Hordes exist simply because there is safety and shared success while in a large group. Let the targets continue to flock together. They are easier to find that way.
As a relatively new player, I used the above tactic whenever I could. I felt that if I flew with other players that not only would I be safer and more likely to live longer, but I might actually learn something by listening in on vox or simply watching other players...
NO NEW PLAYER WANTS TO FLY ALONE! That being said, it's human nature to join a group; this is what creates the horde plus pearl necklace effect. A smaller group takes off or announces, and other players scramble to join the fun.
Base take is what the attackers AND defenders make it. I don't feel that base taking is too easy or too hard. I really don't understand the feeling of being cheated by a larger group of players (cohesive or not) achieving a base capture.... I'm but a simple noob and that's my $0.02.
