Cv grounding a must have
« on: February 26, 2014, 02:45:40 PM »
So we have the option to command a carrier group. In find the role is missing alot of diversity.

I see atleast 2 key features that are missing that would boost the use of carrier groups!

1. I suggest that as long as the ship commander is under command ( which would push squad co's to have that 1 good rabked player) we would have the option to ground all flights from taking off. Nothing may lift off the cv while this option is on.

2. Have an on/off button for the darn auto puffy ack... How many times have I been on those long range bombing runs at 30k to come accrost 2-3 enemy carrier groups along my trip that I only discovered because of the puffy ack.

I think this would compliment the cv commander title alot more then just clicking take command and turn the cv.

Let me know what you guys think!

Written via iphone sorry about the mistakes.

Both great features to be massively abused.

No.  Preventing people from taking off a CV until 'cleared' is not good for game play and could be used to grief.  As for the other one with the acks, another no.

It might be a good time to introduce player spawned and controlled Escort Carriers then. *Insert insane amount of perks here* would get you your own mini-carrier which only pilots hand-selected by you could see on the map and take off from. It would also have a limited number of aircraft so once you launched them all you would have to turn around and re-arm it at a port. Perks would of course be non-refundable.

I think it would also be appropriate to limit how many could be spawned a day or in a given time period.

If the price is high enough I see no reason to limit the number. Not a whole lot who are going to be willing to throw away 400/500 perks on one, which is what I think would be a fair price.

So you want to have the power to prevent other players as well as yourself from finding combat.

The purpose of the CV is to generate wild furballs. Anything else is a waste.

I am sorry holding flights while mission waits to launch just makes too much sense.  It is far more important for one aircraft to launch and destroy a field or town than have a coordinated attack!  How else would you be able to destroy a mission? :x

Not exactly.  More like a system like this, some guy has control of the deck and disallows launching, and now your coordinated attack can't use the CV in any capacity.  :aok

You/your mission doesn't own the CV

You are not the supreme commander of [chesspiece]land

Hmm

Interesting wish, but I don't think it would happen.

I love when people say they're pushing for more diversity when actually they intend to limit it.

Well some don't see the reprocussions of the wish until it's put up here on the forums, then they get a different perspective on their idea. Some of the ideas I've wished for had good intent, but would've ended up hurting the game in a way I didn't see when I first thought of/posted the wish.

From what I see in this wish it's suggesting realism. However, there have been very similar wishes in the past like this, but it was for mission planning purposes. Their heart was in the right place, but the abuse factors ultimately made the wish not happen.
