Need Music.
« on: March 02, 2014, 10:24:00 AM »
I'm keeping this simple and to the point, I need some decent music to listen to. I'm going to be going on a 18 hour non-stop (Besides gas of course) car ride next weekend to New Mexico from crappy old Wisconsin and then back the next Tuesday.

Iv'e already loaded up on 8 hours of my music to listen to which includes 3x Stone Temple Pilots CD's, 4 Alice in Chains CD's and 2 Disturbed CD's.

If anyone has any good music suggestions that aren't country, rap/dubstep or anything from before 1970 then throw it out here. I don't want to have to listen to my gf's Taylor Swift CD's for more than 10 minutes. Help a brotha out.

Check out 21 pilots, Volbeat, and Flux Pavilion. Each is a different genre, so chose what you like!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

I'll second Volbeat...a strange tone but they have some good stuff. I personally like A7X, Disturbed, B4MV, Atreyu, All That Remains, FFDP, when I'm looking for some heavier music.

Can never go wrong with a little Social Distortion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzWSlcuJOoY

If you're an Alice in Chains fan you might try picking up Jerry Cantrell's solo album Degradation Trip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QFC1W1k0DM&list=PL3F6496C8C3E2CD02  I would skip Boggy Depot personally.

Music is fine, but for all the time I drive even with a wide variety it gets old.

You might consider books on tape. They are down loadable from many on-line library sites for free. Documentaries, fiction, science fiction, self help (just hinting a bit here   :devil ) are available.

Just something else to think on. Enjoy your ride!

If you listen you can hear a really strong metallica influence in all of Volbeats stuff.  From the drummer to the style of vocals.  All Volbeat is missing is Kirk Hammett.

I cant say i'm much of a fan of his Degradation Trip albums. There's some good ones like Anger Rising and Gone, but other than that it really wasn't much of a success with me. Let alone the mainstream media.

That reminded me though to go pick up some Amon Amarth CD's. METALLLL!   :rock

:lol I'm not really one to be interested in literature. I never really liked reading, mainly because it was forced upon me so much when I was younger.

Lotta good music suggestions out here, keep them coming.

For that trek you need to listen to a audio book.  Black Cross by Greg Iles. http://mobile.audible.com/search.htm?type=search&cache=1&keywords=black+cross+greg+iles&sprefix=Black+cr

Where are you going in New Mexico.

Awesome.  You're a 90's guy like me.

Mad Season     - a tad mellow, but it's another full album of Layne so it's a must have.
Tool                - anything by them is brilliant.  My personal fave is Lateralus, but none of them will disappoint.
Soundgarden   - Badmotorfinger, Superunknown.

If you like Iron Maiden, then Rock in Rio 2001 is a great choice.  Flawless performance in front of a crowd of 250,000.  I don't know about anyone else, but studio Maiden doesn't hold a candle to live Maiden.
