Tempest Armament package
« on: March 04, 2014, 10:43:25 PM »
Ill look it up a little later, but I'm almost positive there were tempests with the same 12 .303 armament the Hurri mkII had. It would certainly get me into the bird. Imagine sending entire hordes back to base with horrifyingly minor pilot wounds.

Why not look it up before posting? ;)

Why would you want this? 4x20mm Hizzy's are about the most potent gun package in game.

Taking the best gets boring. taking a weaker gun package can be fun. I do it all the time in the I16 and Hurri 2c. BBs ftw

Typhoon Mk Ia was to carry twelve .303s, but I am not sure any were even made, let alone saw combat.

Certainly no Tempest was ever planned to carry .303s as the RAF had long since become comfortable with the 20mm by the time the Tempest was in production.

Plus AH .303's barely have the energy to drop from the muzzle :old:

My dreams have been shattered :(. Guess I'm, not rolling the tempest out of a hangar anytime soon.

I love the .303 because, when fired within their effective range and convergence, they can drop most fighters in a second. In all honesty, I just want a heavy fighter with BB guns as their only armament.

I remember accidentally shooting down a Bf110G-2 with the Mossie's .303s while I still had a full load of 20mm ammo.  Accidentally only fired the primary guns, still managed to take his right wing off in one pass, one long pass.

Indeed,if you get inside 200 yds those 303's will buzz through wings, tails and if you can hit the cockpit, well as good as any weapon!

If we had a more intricate damage model,I think the MG's would be even more impressive in the damage they dole out.

because what is more entertaining than knowing your victim is sitting in the tower still listening to the hit sounds of your .50 cals or 20mm's? why, knowing your victim is sitting in the tower still listening to the plinking sounds of your .30 cals of course! :lol  This is really the only reason I ever up one of the birds that are flying .30 cal batteries or to hunt wirbles  :devil
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

I have great fun in my Hurri1 turning aircraft in to flying postage stamps.  In big furballs they're great... keep turning, latch on to someone and press the trigger.

Iv'e tried, I can barely get kills while using Hizookas, or some reason center point armament that isn't a bf109 doesn't work well for me
