bomber bail proxy distance UP
« on: March 18, 2014, 02:32:33 AM »
Please consider changing the proxy distance to that of icon distance.

I know there are reasons that many other solutions are flawed, but this isn't going to hurt in anyway I can see. If they hit enter 3x it's a proxy within icon range.

The amount of bombing and bailing yesterday was absurd. They came to attack my country's strats, how come they get off so easy as to not have to fight anyone to do that? It's not realistic in any way. I know they can bail before they see an enemy, but if they are holding bombs they usually wait untl about 3k. I had a set of Lancasters do it yesterday after he only got off bombs on his first pass on ack strat. He said "I knew I had no chance against a Me163, so I bailed." Really  :headscratch:  As if Me163 pilots aren't subject to lag, missing their shot, colliding, and running out of fuel.

If they dive and intentionally auger to avoid the proxy, at least I can dive with them and try shoot em.

Numerous times fellow country players were saying set of lancs at xxx, nope they bailed. ENY was high for the other team so they spammed B26's and B25's dropped and bailed...

The only way I see they'll fight is if they know that hitting enter 3x is going to give the proxy anyway, so why not duke it out.

Please put combat back in this combat sim.

I don't think Rot cares about the proxies, he's probably hoping it will encourage pilots to stay in their bombers and fight.

Personally I don't even bother chasing most bombers anymore because I expect at least half of them will just bail before I get in range.

I hate wasting my life time climbing up to bombers and then they bail as I hit the magic 4K marker.

I think it's a good idea increasing the proxy range to encourage them to stay with their bombers and defend them.

As Revo said, it has nothing to do with that. But I can only assume it's because they don't want to get shot down, so if it's made to say they got shot down, then I can see no reason why they wouldn't stay and fight. It's just a mindset I fail to understand.

I said to this same guy, Baba and the Jokers and V guys used to school me at their strats all the time. 163's, P-47M's and so on...I finally got Baba's 163 after about 8 attempts, then I got another of his consecutively, all in Lancasters. It can be done. My reward for staying and fighting in all of those cases was learning to shoot and defend. Once I'm down to one and tail/top guns are empty and shot out, I'll try to dogfight and get the front guns around. He said ya but I wasn't coming in from dead 6, I was going for a high slashing attack...well I learned that somewhere...

Really, I'm far from decent in the 163 or with the 30mm in general. I'm about just as likely to run out of fuel in the 163 than I am to get kills, also the rate of closure is so fast that colliding is a huge risk for me.

I'm not referring to guys not wanting to spend the time on the long flight home, depending on how far, I get that. It's the one's that bail when they see a ftr because their ego might get bruised or something  :headscratch:

I know of not a single example of anything that comes close to bombing and bailing over enemy territory in WW2, getting captured was much more a risk than any ftr posed. Add to that the risk of being shot in their chute.

I'd say proxy and award perk points to the nearest enemy anywhere on the map when hitting enter three times to bail from an aircraft that hasn't been damaged by an enemy player and above, say, 15,000 or 20,000ft.

Should be like 5k.  If none within 5k auto gift the proxy(s) in alpha order to each player that has not bailed with bombers for current tour.  Then next in alpha order on next bomber bail etc.

This is not a bad solution, all things considered..  Bailing on bombers is lame.  However I gotta say proxies are lame too.  I wish there were no proxies at all except for wussy buff pilots who bail.

+1 for proxies at icon range.  If it discourages bailing in the least, it is worth the change.

then they will just nose dive into the ground.  also ever think how many fighters will be also giving proxies to some guy 2 sectors away because he bailed out also?

I mentioned the intentional auger, that takes time and the ftr would probably be in icon range. I'm only referring to bombers, and when they are over enemy territory.

What amazes me even more is seeing B-24's bomb and bail, the combination of the guns of the B17 with a smaller target make it a truly deadly adversary, yet you see them bail too.
