ESET Smart Security 7

Decided to purchase a 1 yr subscription of ESET Smart Security 7 anti-virus software & put it on the wife's box to see if ESET can keep up w/ her...........

Wife is bad mojo when it comes to computer usage & staying clean.      :D

I had a trial version of Kapersky running on her box prior & since I was gonna have to pay to activate it I just decided to try ESET instead to get a side-by-side comparison of ESET & Kapersky (I've got a subscription vers of Kapersky Internet Security 2013 running on my box).

After downloading ESET installer to desktop, deleting Kapersky Internet Security 2012, then getting ESET installed on the wife's box & letting it go thru it's paces I'm kinda liking the interface of it.........very clean & compact look.

Performed a 1st scan on wife's box & ESET found 21 malware threats & I cleaned all of them.
After setting the scan parameters to my liking I then ran a smart scan & ESET found 1 object potentially unwanted threat (a Yahoo installer for crying out loud....which I deleted....prolly get in trouble for doing it but oh well  :lol).

That was very interesting.................. .....

Something I'll keep in mind.

So far, so good.............I like it.

I have been using ESET SS since 2007.   I do not regret it.   Small footprint and I leave it up while gaming with zero hiccups.

Do you run ESET in gamer mode when you're gaming or not?

I've been using ESET every since I think it was DMF who recommended nod32... Then shortly after I started using the entire Smart Security Suite ... That was right at or before ESET SS 2 or 3

Nowadays ESET offers versions for linux,  Mac users, windows 32 bit OS or 64 bit OS,  as well as for your mobile smartphone .... at least for android based smartphones up to  certain OS

It also has a built-in "Social Media Site Scanner" to where you can set it up to scan your own Facebook page as well as the rest of your friend's linked/posted stuff or pages....

I may be incorrect, but I thought I read up on something similar to "sandbox" possibly being included in ESET SS 7.0 .... All the 1 year subs are coming due soon.... on some of my daughter's laptops and desktop PC's...

ESET has let me use an old 4.0 ESS for 3 PC's before and update/install current 6.0 version, no problem....

I really like ESET for my girls, parents, etc...

I installed linux to my parents after I got tired fixing their constant infections. After some initial complaining they're using linux fluently in two computers at the moment.

I haven't received calls to fix much anything anymore and the calls are usually like yesterdays: 'linux doesn't print'. I go to check the situation, printer is out of ink  :rolleyes:

ESET probably makes the best 'gamer friendly' AV software out there.  It has a very little resource footprint and isn't intrusive like other AV programs and will not conflict or cause any issues with any games.

You can get ESET Smart Security 6 for 1 PC on E-Bay for $16.00. It will automatically upgrade you to

ESET Smart Security 7 before it even installs, if you are connected to the internet.

I got the 3 PC Smart Security 6 for $35.00. Upgraded to 7 just fine. This is for a 1 year activation.

Been using ESET products for years. Won't use anything else.
