Nice skin  :aok

Good (lateral) thinking, with it being French, attacking fighters will know the pilot is going to bail rather than defend his aircraft  :lol

Looking good FTJR. The markings and anti-glare panels look a bit shiny, have you used a spec map for this skin?

Yes I have Greebo, I was just trying to keep it subtle, is it to do with where the markings and anti glare panels are?

The paint used on the markings and anti-glare panels was very matt. The whole point of the anti-glare panels was to prevent reflections blinding the pilot and yours show some very heavy reflections. I'd suggest making the painted areas on the spec map a fairly dark grey, something around RGB 30/30/30. I don't think this is somewhere you want to be subtle, it is the difference in strength of the white reflections that run from metal onto painted areas that really create the illusion of bare metal.

The last 2 screenshots have the markings at full black on the spec map, I will redo it as you suggest and repost. Tks.
Still lets me modify the post.. I swear the materials tab in the skin viewer has a mind of its on. :(

The "latest" shot looks matt all over and the "previous" one shiny all over. If you have skin bump mapping turned on in the game and a spec map with a good contrast between the metal and painted areas you should be able to get a shot with the metal shiny and the painted areas matt.

I've been having the same problem while testing my Corsair template. In the skin viewer the spec mapping works fine, but once I load in the game it's ignoring the material settings.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I've not had a problem with the F4U specularity myself and I'm sure Cactus would have spotted any problem like that with the B-26. Possibly its a file naming issue, perhaps you could list all the file names you are including in the skin's folder. Otherwise you could send me the skin's bmp and txt files and I might be able to see what's wrong from examining them.

Thanks Greebo, though the only change I've made to the spec file is for the markings as you suggested. My skin viewer has a habit of looking one way, and upon reopening looking completly different. Still Im sure its the operator (i.e. me) rather than the skin viewer. I'll need to play with it for awhile and edge back to something acceptable.

Again thanks for the input.
