New terain question
« on: April 01, 2014, 05:49:35 PM »
Will the new terrain cause any more of a performance hit to low end computers or should it be more or less the same?

If it's expected to be more of a hit then I would like to start looking for a graphics card now before it comes out.

Unless you have some other reason to upgrade, you are probably better off waiting until nearer the time. Hardware is likely to go down in price between now and then as newer cards hit the market place. Also there may be a public beta of the new AH which would give everyone a better idea of whether their FPS will be better or worse.

I believe they are testing the new graphics on a nvidia 9800gt (or something like that)

You should be fine  :)

They're probably using a low-mid range GPU in order to see how it would effect the average pc.

Do not panic.  As Greebo suggested just wait until the new graphics arrive, test them on your current system, THEN make an educated guess on what you may or may not need.

The longer you wait the cheaper cards will get.  I wouldn't upgrade until the time comes.

I seem to recall HTC said there would be some sort of old map converter built into the terrain editor. I'd imagine some maps would still need some extra work to look their best, particularly special event maps with custom textures.

If you are looking to upgrade your video card for Aces High, we are suggesting you wait.  We will go through a beta test period with the new graphics.

Yes, our target video card is an NVidia 9800GTX with 512MB of video RAM.  That does not mean a 9800GTX will run with all the graphics enabled.  It is still too early to tell what level it will run.
