Advertising

Does AH intend to do any advertising at all? It is obvious that the game is in decline, regardless of the eye candy they are working on. On any given 'prime time' I would guess it is down 30-40% from this time 18 months ago. It will reach a tipping point where the bottom will simply fall out. Without advertising, in time this virtual universe will simply disappear.

Anyone...?

Probably through social media, like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
I doubt they will do anything they have to pay for unfortunately.

Then they should sell shares or something, raise commitments of an extra $10 a month, generate an on-going budget of $1k a month to fund their social media campaign. I'd happily fund $10-$20/mo for 6-months to boost the numbers.

What would Shareholders get in return? Funny you should ask. We get to weigh in on what birds, ords, etc are added to the game next. $60-$120 over 6-months to get my beloved P-61, or Japanese Raiden, or ???

$1k/mo would likely generate noticeable numbers. Then, they would need to find a way to connect these "2-weekers" with squads and trainers so they don't leave in frustration.

Then they should sell shares

Before they could take this company public they would have to go through an SEC registration process. During that you must also reveal any risks your company faces, including those from the economic state. It would be interesting to read those risks to see what HTC feels they are. Given the current state of the business compared to where it was in the past, this would be a penny stock in my opinion. The IPO would be an interesting one though.

I'm not talking actual shares. I've been around a few IPOs and the cost runs half a million, plus or minus. Sell an enhanced membership, with funds being dedicated to advertising. No transference of ownership or rights. Those that purchase the enhanced membership and maintain it in good standing for 4 months or longer get to vote on new birds.

You want them to blow their marketing budget before the new upgrades are out?

That sounds like a dumb idea as you wont get potential players to look a second time, if the first time they are turned off by the older graphics. Get the new patches out to bring most of the game up to current standards, then push your game.

Probably through social media, like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

I am sure they will spend money after the update, I just hope they target better. Youtubers and facebook would reach a larger market and can be targeted better so that less money is spent to access the same potential players.

Good to know.

In the spirit of positive contribution, not criticism, I think much can be done to spread the word via Facebook. Add many of the great videos made by players such as Dolby, Latrobe, Vudu, even that stuff by Grizz and the Army of Muppets. Are they running advertising spots on Facebook? $100 will place an AH add on 35,000-45,000 pages that have certain key words.

Glad to know they are Facebooking.

The point is, has anyone seen any recently?

Some of you guys play other games. Ask around and see how many have heard of "Aces High".

I think it would be wisest for HTC to wait until they get their new terrain engine out before doing any advertising.  They are already taking advantage of Youtube and Facebook (maybe Twitter?) . Until the new terrain engine is out though any advertising would be wasted.

If we have something to show we will & do post shots, if we have nothing new to show we don't.
