« on: April 13, 2014, 08:05:35 PM »
Also there's shadowing in game play.

How do I fix this?

green is more yellow, text is faint or not rich. I guess there's different hues of each color than what was on my LCD. Also they're blurry. I'm not sure about the shadows. Where is that located?

Thanks for the help!

Is Windows running in the native resolution of your new monitor?

Here's a decent web site to help "eyeball" some basic calibration settings...might help.

 Sounds like it needs calibration!

do a search for LCD calibration, you can find free calibration stuff, you may need to burn a CD/DVD and simply follow the directions.

I would do that before you try to make adjustment with your vidcard settings.

   YMMV.

Sounds more like a bad cable. Are you using a VGA connector perhaps? That can cause the said problems if the cable is damaged or cable length is too long.

W7 has a pretty descent color calibration built in just right click on the desktop.  Start with the monitor in default or standard settings.

Your text may also become blurry if you forced anisotropic filtering in your graphics settings. AH doesn't like that.

As a rule of thumb anyway, if you bought a new device and its picture doesn't look right, chances are you got a lemon. Get active, find out if the monitor looks bad also on other computers and on other cables and if it does you need to RMA it.

All of the digital connected monitors I have had have had picture perfect images right from the box. No blurryness, no color defects that would jump out on you. Calibration is a whole other issue but that's mostly required only if you do serious photo work. If the picture is so much off that the colors argue with your eye there's usually something wrong with the hardware or cables.

That's the conclusion I came to. I put my old monitor back on. It's too late to RMA it. I bought it last year for another computer and never got around to checking it out until Sunday.

Long shot here but you could try calling the manufacturer and explain the situation. They might make things right or be willing to compromise a solution. Worst that can happen is they say no.
