You are probably right about shouldn't be a factor, however, there are analog (DVI-A), digital (DVI-D), and both analog & digital (DVI-I) DVI cables. Something to watch out for.

I really do think this is calibration problem with the monitor.  Did you try W7 calibration program?  It is really very good.

I had blurry text and it fixed that.  Just go back to all default setting before you start or you will have the video card fighting the monitor settings.

Did you try different color temperatures? Note that LED monitors have good contrast but that's about it.

A digital signal can't be calibrated for anything but color correction. If the monitor uses a VGA connector then all sorts of analog problems may need calibrating.

In the television world, that is correct.  However, the DVI timing signals for computers are different than the DVI portion of a televisions HDMI connector.

Yes, there are two different DVI standards.  One for computers and one for television.
