Racing league prize....
« on: April 17, 2014, 01:06:45 PM »
Is there any chance of the same prize being awarded for another event that non-US players can reasonably attend?  Admittedly, one might have to be created...

The racing league is at 10pm EST on a tuesday evening, which is 3am wednesday morning here, effectively excluding all British and European players from competing for the prize.

As the racing league has a clear cut winner, we decided it would be the best choice for this test.  We will gauge the impact and plan accordingly.

It could be a one time thing, it could spread to other events, it could cause other events to get created.  There really is no telling what may happen, until it is tried.

Yes, exactly, but you have to be the most scared son of a gun out there, and run the fastest. On the deck. While traversing a number of obstacles. With guys trying to pass you. In planes that don't turn well, sometimes. You'll love it. Best part is, if you crash, we have tea and crumpets as well as cookies and milk in the tower for you to munch on until the next heat. There are usually three heats to excel and show your stuff, or not.  :D

It could be a one time thing, it could spread to other events, it could cause other events to get created.  There really is no telling what may happen, until it is tried.

Some time ago HTC tried to tie a cash prize to the 'best' player in the MA and it really affected gameplay negatively. I could see something similar happening to FSO and scenarios if a prize was awarded to statistics, including a potential lack of team-play and it would sour those events.

Please take the above into consideration.

Agreed.  Accepted.  Moving on....

please stick a discussion post on the CMs forum to kick around ideas for a racing league that British and European players could attend.  Just discuss it for us and see what you can come up with.  I'd suggest not at 3pm EST cos that removes all the Yanks from the mix.  A 6pm or 7pm EST event would allow both Yanks and us Brits to compete together.....and since everyone in eastern Europe is unemployed (I know this cos they keep coming here to find work) they won't mind staying up until 2am if they wanna join in too.
