One thing that was great about a certain motor car company that died with it's founder, which I won't name because I don't want to hijack, was the design of it's models wasn't dictated by fashion, it was art.

It's trendy with the manufacturers me thinks.  Except the French automakers.. they don't get it.

Wide and low stance projects a powerful image with sports cars.  Again, it may not be for everybody but obviously, the marketing departments aren't stupid
It's not just sports cars, pickups, suv's, vans they all have those fenders now. Don't get me wrong I think the new mustang is the best looking one since the 70's mach I.

I won't disagree with that.. especially the new Chevy truck line.  It sells dude.  You don't have to like it.

Fair enough. Though you still haven't said how this will benefit the community.

This thread is great.  It is about the new Mustang and related to car design in general.  If you have an issue with me, you are welcome to send me a clever PM.

I have no idea how, but I somehow didn't notice I was in the wrong thread, and quoting the wrong person.

EDIT: Not sorry any more

I'm so fixated on the 68-70 Stang body styles, and just love the '05 style I have, that it's hard to wrap my arms around the new design.  Not that it isn't awesome, it is, I just have to not bias it with my opinion of what "I" think a Mustang should look like.  It's a great looking car.

Wouldn't you rather have an electric car?  (Image removed from quote.)

Now that you mention it...

If I could justify it (and afford it :uhoh) I would want this too.

Ammo, I agree regarding the Shelby, we had a 2011 for a short time that I really was impressed with.  I think personally that they are going to do a Shelby or high performance model, in the 6 to 700 bhp range.  Why wouldn't they, they have sold pretty well, and it looks bad on them not having a competitor for the Z28, ZL1, etc from the Camaro line.

I do like the new body style of the 2015/16 Mustang, and I also really like the whole turbo 4 motor idea for the entry level models.  Even this engine will have far more HP/torque than the original 5.0l engine in the late 80's and early 90's models, pre 1993 and the subsequent modular 4.6's.  It'll be a neat car for the tuners, it should be fairly cheap for the base model with the turbo 4, and just wait until the mods start coming out for that one.  I predict it'll be the new "it" car for modders.  The 2.3 Ecoboost going into the entry level models will have a twin scroll turbo, so torque and HP should be on tap a lot lower in the RPM range, and is rumored to put out 300hp/300torque, which is amazing from such a small 4 cylinder motor for an American car - that is in the range of the best "Euro" high performance engines in the 2 liter range.  It also is going to get 35 mpg so they are saying, left stock.  Now THAT is quite a car for the price it's going to come in at.  Now imagine a little work done to that motor, it won't take much in terms of mods, programming, and perhaps higher boosting turbos to put that thing into the 4 or 450HP range, or in fact much higher.  Exciting times for drivers looking for a car to mod, a great alternative to buy American and have a very, very improvable car.

If they could either drop the engine into a Camaro, or at the very least make the Mustang less ugly and give it an IRS, that would be great.

 the 2015 DOES have irs.

I am a bit of a car guy.  I think its brilliant. I want it. I want it now.

i hated this style when i first saw it. it's grown on me a bit. i need to see it in real first. it was the same for me with the newest vette....hated them in the pictures. there's 3 running around cherry hill. gun metal grey.....gorgeous....white... ..kinda blah.....and a deep sky blue one. THAT one if fracking GORGEOUS. i will be test beating one of the new stangs though\

 ::EDIT::
i almost forgot....if you dig deep enough, you might just find something referencing the ford mondeo in your search for the platform that this stang is built on.  :noid
