Aloe vera juice
« on: April 26, 2014, 07:53:27 AM »
Started drinking it for better digestive health and overall benefits producers' claim. In two weeks I do think I feel a bit better than I did. Tastes absolutely terrible, but taste isn't what I'm after. The one I'm purchasing is Lily of the Desert.

Any of the rest of you have thoughts/opinions? FROM THOSE WHO ACTUALLY HAVE SOME SHRED OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ALOE VERA JUICE PLZ.

http://www.iasc.org/complete.html

This ^ ogranization kinda sounds like they like to toot their own horn a bit, although they don't endorse any single product. I suppose that can be understood in the health food craze everybody wants to make a fortune market.

My wife and I took Aloe Vera juice for about a year and I must say it really didn't change anything in the long run. At first it looked like we didn't fall ill as easily as before, but now that we've been without it for over five years we still have quite a good resistance to the common cold and such. Also our stomachs still work as they've always done. I suppose the (illusion of) better health was coincidental with our kids growing out of kindergarten and primary school, bringing less bacteria home. On the other hand, the experiment only hurt my wallet. If you believe you're feeling better, you're the best judge.

For a good digestive health a decent amount of fibres and some fermented milk products like yoghurt might do the trick as well with less cost.

Have you ever taken it? So tell us what you know about it? Please tell us wise one. Nature couldn't possibly offer anything valuable, create it all in a lab, that's the way to go, yeahhhh that's the ticket.

Prolly spoken from a guy that takes lots of medications LOL.

I have seen noticeable differences and I wasn't asking for know-it-all's op's with zero knowledge. If your digestive system is in great shape then wonderful for you, hopefully it always remains that way, go bag on someone else's thread, run along. Big bloody decks salute to ya.

I have never ingested aloe vera but we used to keep a plant or 2 growing to use the juice on burns, cuts and minor rashes. Seems to work pretty good for sunburns and if you grow it it's plenty cheap.

I have no idea of the toxicology of aloe vera as I've only used it topical, however I have heard of people juicing it with no ill effects. If you take any medications you might want to consult your doctor for any interactions.

Simply a reference to the movie north shore, kiddo. Putting it out there to see if anyone else remembers the line. Just what this thread brought to mind, not specifically directed at you.

Oh,  :o   Keaaaanu, that's my generation and I surf (well used to, kinda hard in Phx,) didn't recall that line.

Sorry, just a lot of highly opinionated banter lately where I see most aren't using facts...

Anyhow, however, I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking it's a kooked out marketing ploy. I'm not buying into all of the aloe is great for kidneys, heals ulcers and some of the other wild claims, while it may actually be capable of these things, I'm just skeptical.

Really my reason for the thread, to be more concise: which aloe products have you used, liked/disliked? This will get expensive after a while, which kinda has me doubting the whole idea.

Morfiend:  I have heard/read the skin is very toxic, I can grow aloe just about anywhere I want, it loves the desert, but I'd really want to be careful eating a toxic plant until I was informed enough how to handle; I hope your friends are experten.
