Yea, its gonna be another bad night tonight  MS, TN,AL,AR all have tornados on the ground at the moment.  Stay safe out there guys

Very sad Mark...glad it was a week late tho.....

Ive been in to many tornado disaster areas in my lifetime to have anything but the utmost respect for mother nature, and having seen her at her worst is humbling to say the least.

Edit been watching the weather channel all night.  As of right now there are 14 confirmed tornados on the ground right now

Ive only been in one. Sitting in a crappy little pick up truck guarding USAF aircraft in AR., "of course we were the only ones outside". I never really saw it but I heard it. It ended up wrecking a trailer park down the road from the base. Terrifying things to be around.

Not a good place to be. I lived in Clarksdale for about a year. Some of the worst thunderstorms ever down there. Now I live Oklahoma I guess it figures

Are there a lot more tornadoes lately or are they just getting more publicity with the tornado chaser reality tv etc?

While Oklahoma gets the reputation for being "Tornado Alley", AR, MO, IL, IN, MS, TN, AL, and NC seem to get plastered -- especially this time of year it is most dangerous.  The one here in AR bounced over the mountain here and set down on the other side of the river and had a 3/4 mile swath for 80 miles.  Initial reports was an F2-- however NWS people on the ground her now have re-calculated that to a very strong F3 and more likely F4.

My folks and SkyRock's folks come from the same area. If you ever go to NE MS you will notice something in most yards you don't see other places -- a concrete underground storm shelter.
