Well, it's happened again, only this time bystanders didn't have a protective suit -- or an inkling of what was to come.
Video has emerged of a 25-tonne beast exploding after it fell from a crane as it was being transported during a clean-up operation in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The dead whale had washed up on Carrasco beach and was just too heavy for the hoist as it was slowly lowered on to a truck.
As the straps snapped, the creature crashed into the vehicle causing its bloated torso to explode on impact, spilling blood, innards and water on the ground.
Sperm whales often experience a build-up of gas in their stomachs after they die, due to the decomposing process.
