Are you guys seriously arguing about Xwings?

Sit down, take a breather, and have a cupcake.

This is one of the most fun debates I've had since the days of the IGZ and the X-Wing Community was fully alive and kicking.

REALLY wish they'd make another true X-Wing game, (I'd LOVE to see one built around a hard-core physics model) and not that WarThunder wannabee they're currently trying to pass off as a new "simulator."
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

It's not star wars branded, and it depends on your definition of hardcore physics, but Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen might scratch that itch for you.

Agreed though, an actual new X-Wing would be one of the better things developers could do with their time.

One game that had a great space combat, was Star Wars Galaxies. Really miss that MMORPG (died when KOTOR's MMORPG came out), was shutdown by Sony Online Entertainment. Had far more in it than even WoW had. Lots to do on the ground and in space, too much to type here, if you are intrigued look it up, google SWG decorations (for house decorations) or space combat.   Now that was fun  :aok

Well. It looks to me like the evidence points towards a new smaller X-Wing that is being developed for use aboard the jeep carriers. It's a smart move both tactically and economically. We'll probably see a press release soon enough when the first composite VC squadrons begin receiving deliveries.

On another positive note, the word on the street is that the Axis is having a lot of trouble with their over-engineered Twin Ion Engine fighter. This nimble little war machine was supposed to give our boys a hard run for their money. My contacts inside the Reich informed me that the plan was also to release the design to be license built by Nakajima for use on the Jap carriers. However, we were able to obtain this critical photo of an embarrassing incident that happened at the Luftwaffe secret test field near Kummersdorf. Apparently both the Führer and Reichsmarschall Göring were present when the ion engines crapped out on this prototype. Rumor has it that Hitler wigged out on Göring, Speer and anyone else that was close by.

This is indeed good news for the Allied war effort.  :aok

We also discovered this Nazi propaganda poster. No doubt made possible by Darth Goebbels.

I agree that it must be a half scale prototype of mock up.
Here you can see two of them escorting our boys in the B17 and you can clearly see the size difference.

The early X-wings were found to be underpowered so they used technology developed from the P-51 runstangs.
