Fix the disco pilot
« on: May 08, 2014, 11:22:39 AM »
Fix the AI so he's not a complete wuss and Bails whenever there is an enemy within viewing range after disco. Nothing worse then losing 156+ perks because the dam AI pilot doesn't have the balls to sit in his plane.

The AI pilot bails when the plane is no longer flyable.

How does the AI define flyable because I've had them bail when all i was missing was an aileron.

You might have been missing an aileron when you discoed, but then more damage might have occurred before you reconnected.

It also seems  AI calls a plane "not flyable" when it has run out of fuel - which unfortunately is the modus operandi (both historical & actual) for the Me 163B "Komet"

That would be true.  When the plane is out of fuel, it cannot be flown, thus it is un-flyable.

But that plane is meant to be flown without fuel! It's just the way it historically operated - fight until you run out of fuel, then glide back home. It's designed to do exactly that...  :bhead

I can't remember specifically, but I was disco'd once in a 262 - either the 262 flew straight on auto pilot or in a stall climb, unfortunately I either crashed or was shot down.

It happens, 160 perks isn't bad, I lost 3 in one night to disco dancing into mountains.

Well, the poor little AI guy really is a bit clueless.  He knows how to keep a plane level in flight for you, but he panics when it will not fly any more.

He is intended to be a pretty lame pilot.

I understand the frustration.  We do need the AI guy to be quite lame or people would let him fly the plane while they sat back sipping a drink, or three.

Actually, I talked to HiTech and the fuel issue is something we might be able to look into for the AI dude.

There ya go.

So what exactly does the confussed AI pilot do when he finds himself in a P40-C, because whenever im in that plane and get discoed, I come back to an airplane which has shed all of its fuel.

I know the p40c isn't  as much of a "fighter-plane" as it is "sky-chum" but I really think the AI man needs to be made aware of the fact that the P40c is already a step below the curb, I don't think it needs anymore disadvantages. Its like putting someone whos in a wheel chair in a NBA game, than yanking the wheel chair out from under them and expecting them to still play.
