have to unplug replug usb to get controls working
« on: May 09, 2014, 11:21:28 PM »
I have an MSFF sidwinder and a pair of ch pedals. I have a Vista box and I have this peculiar problem. When the game first starts up and I get into an online arena there is no FF for my stick. I have to unplug and replug the USB and I usually have to do the same for the pedals as the unplug replug of the stick seems to disable them. Than I have to reselect the proper control mode. Its not a big problem, but I don't know how many unplug replug cycles the hardware can stand before it wears out. Any Ideas?

It might be a USB power issue. I've noticed occasionally the same with my Saitek pedals. I've tried to only plug one device in a pair of USB ports in the rear of my computer, and since that wasn't possible, pairing a gaming device with something that would be off during gameplay like a printer.

A powered USB hub might help. Even if that won't solve the replugging problem, it would reduce the wear of your built-in USB ports. A USB hub is much easier to replace than a USB port on your motherboard!

Sounds like a USB power reset issue.

A powered USB hub should help.

Then again, Vista may need to be re-installed.  Vista has a lot of problems.  There are USB port issues as well.
